My ancient Panasonic NV-GS50B is playing up. It's always worked perfectly for me as both a Mini-DV camcorder and a capture device, but now having not used it since the back end of last year, all of a sudden it won't accept a tape (used or brand new). The main error message I'm getting is "Please re-operate after pushing reset button" (which I've done), and occasionally "To service".
Basically, whenever I try to insert a tape, I get a load of whirring noises. Generally it spits it straight back out, but a handful of times I've managed to get one in. On those happy occasions one of two things happens:
1) It churns away and sounds rather like it's chewing up the tape.
or
2) I can fast forward and rewind without issue, but when I press play, it's just black silence (no, it's not blank). The 'time remaining' counter seems to tick down accurately, but the timecode itself is frozen at 0:00:00:00.
Has anyone else experienced something similar? Can anyone help at all?
Many thanks.
