converting to mp4

I bought note 10.1 and I want to put some movie files on the note from my lap top.i don, t know a lot about this, I bought a 32 gig micro for the note. The file are vob and some other type ( downloaded movies ) any help here would be great. I take it that my note will play mp4. thanks :):):):)
