I have a number of stand alone dvd recorder using various disc formats. NONE specifically say they can record to CDs, any format. I want to record my open reel tapes to dvd because that is what I have. When I transfer a CD from source to destination using a simple 3 color patch cord, the AUDIO does NOT record despite the correct indicators lit. No errors. Although the units various screens are present on the TV. Also when I try to play the audio dvd on my stand alone player as expected I get "NO PLAY". Of course there will be no video at the open reel. When I record disc to disc, vcr to disc, set top to disc, all is well. Is there a way around this? Do I need to get a stand alone cd recorder, or a dvd recorder that also records to cds? I work in a RE STORE. Units come in from time to time working or not. User manuals are never with the unit. There is nothing on the unit that would indicate if recordable CDs are to be used. I do not understand why this has to be so complicated. NO computer burner, software, or skills.
