I'm capturing some VHS tapes which I capture at 720x480. I've been taking small segments of the files and creating DVD test files to compare different restoration solutions, which I watch on my WS TV. I've noticed that my test files play back on my Sony BluRay player at 720x480 (natch!) but when I play the VHS tapes from the VCR, the display fills the wide screen. I assume it has something to do with the way my TV processes the signal from the VCR, but perhaps someone more knowledgeable than me could explain why it happens that the VCR display is wide screen but the DVD playback remains 720x480 when the source is the same. Thanks. :)
