Hi,
I have a Windows 7 (64-bit) laptop that initially was capturing fine (ADVC-50 powered by another PC's power supply, via FireWire, into the laptop's PC card slot) using WinDV.
But I was having the fourCC dvsd "can't find codec" issue while editing, so I decided to install the Cedocida DV codec, which seemed to fix things. I noted the Cedocida installation warning that it would "replace my DV codec", but since it fixed my editing issue, and since so many here have raved about Cedocida overall, I didn't think about it again...
Until... I went back to capture again using WinDV. The video appears in the WinDV preview window, but as soon I click "Capture", WinDV hangs and nothing is captured. I have to reboot to clear things. I'm thinking the Cedocida codec is the issue, but not sure.
Thus my question: Has anyone else encountered this? I have no idea how I could restore the "default" Windows 7 codec to see if that fixes the capturing. Uninstalling Cedocida did nothing, nor did reinstalling.
Any help or information very appreciated!
