Capturing HDCP - still working? - looking for help

Hi everyone,

I want to record/capture programs through HDMI. The signal is protected by HDCP.

I have read both threads:
How to record TV show to PC using HAUPPAUGE HD-PVR DEVICE?

and

HDCP strippers

I want to use the Hauppauge HD PVR 2 + the HDMI Stripper from TomTop. But, I am new to this.

Objective:
The tv box sends programs through an HDMI cable to the TV. I want to record and capture thos programs.

My worry is:
- can you confirm the HMDI stripper solution is still valid?
=> one person posted it didn't work. Not sure it would apply to me. see http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/334145-HDCP-strippers?p=2239413&viewfull=1#post2239413
- could someone explain to me briefly how to connect my tv, the hd box from the tv provider, my hauppage hd pvr 2 and the hdmi splitter please?
- what is the correct process to make it work?

Thank you for you help.

Below my signature, you will find a summary of what was said in the threads mentionned above.

- post 312 (http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/334145-HDCP-strippers?p=2239455&viewfull=1#post2239455):
"Since all outputs are the same format you need to make sure that the device with the lowest resolution, frame rate capability, and color depth capability, auto negotiates first. So if you have a device that can only handle up to 1080i30 and another device that can handle up to 1080p60 the 1080i30 device must perform the auto negotiation. Or you can force the source device to output 1080i30. Also try specifying YPbPr or RGB.

I don't know if there is a preference for which output port auto negotiates. I would try switching the outputs around to see if that helps. Ie, if output 1 to TV and output 2 to capture device doesn't work try swapping the cables so that output 1 goes to the capture device and output 2 goes to the TV."
