Repairing a corrupted avi-file

We had made some movies of my godson's first moments, but they got corrupted and possibly partially overwritten while on the SD card. I've managed to get large chunks of data off of the card (with Power Data Recovery), and there's one big AVI-file that I think is one of the movies we're looking for. I can't, however, seem to get it playable in any way that I can think of.

I've tried Digital Video Repair, but that just produces some worthless files of a few kilobytes (the original is about 1GB in size, and 14:05 minutes in length). By stripping the index with DivFix, I somehow increased the working file size to 1.21GB, but when I let the program fix it after that, it still doesn't produce a playable file (both with the original file and the index-stripped file, both with and without keeping in the bad parts). Finally, I've tried just converting the DivFix output files to MPG or MP4 with FormatFactory after reading somewhere that it could help, but all I'm getting from there is an "error 0xC0000005"-status for the files.

I read somewhere on these boards that rebuilding the frames with AviDemux might do something, but the latest build doesn't seem to have that menu option anymore.

What else could I possibly try to fix this file? It'd mean a lot to us if we could get anything out of the file. I'm fairly certain there's something salvageable in there, since I also tried grabbing data by using PhotoRec, and that produced two fairly small corrupted files of his first bath that I could get working with Digital Video Repair, but they're only part of the longer movie we're hoping to recover.

(I'm a bit of a newbie with regards to this sort of thing, by the way. And I can run both Windows and MacOS apps, but don't have access to Linux.)
