Burning with ImgBurn fails

I have been using BDRebuilder and ImgBurn to produce DVD copies of BDs without any problems for about 2 years. I purchased an LG BH14 BD burner and today tried burning BDs with it. I have tried twice and ImgBurn has hung both times. Before I make more coasters I am hoping someone can give me some insight.

My computer is a home built PC running WindowsXP SP3. I am using BD-Rs, single layer discs and ImgBurn (v 2.5.7.0) is set at 4x speed. BDRebuilder was used to create the files which total about 24 Gbytes. The first trial was using the Verbatim disc which came with the player and using ImgBurn in the "write files to disc" mode. It got to 20% and just hung, enough that I couldn't close it. The rest of Windows worked normally. The only way I could close ImgBurn was to restart the computer.

The next time I decided to use ImgBurn to create a disc image and then tried burning the disc image to the BD-R. This was an Optical Quantum disc I purchased with the BD burner. It got to 79% and then hung.

In both cases I was watching the stats. The buffer and device buffers both were at 100% when it stopped. What I noticed was that the burner would suddenly become louder (? speeding up) and the writing would stop. After about a minute the burner stopped spinning. The hard disc which had been solid red for continuous activity started blinking every second.

Any thoughts about why ImgBurn is hanging?

Thanks.
