I have encoded 1080p AVC/H.264 source to H.264 lossless with the same resolution as the source file, and constant quality using Handbrake. The profile is High 4:4:4.
I have not chaged anything else compared to the original source file, except the framerate (original 23.976, encoded 24) using constant framerate. Conversion with Handbrake went fine, and looking the information with Mediainfo, everything seems to be just fine. However, when playing the video with Media Player Classic, the video is jerky (seems like computer is having hard time to play the video), and the time bar of media player reaches the end whilst the video keeps playing for a few more seconds.
When using mkvmerge GUI to convert the .m4v file to .mkv, it gives this warning (but finishes the conversion despite it):
Warning: 'C:\Documents and Settings\etc.. (the path of the video)' track 0: The AVC video track is missing the 'CTTS' atom for frame timecode offsets. However, AVC/h.264 allows frames to have more than the traditional one (for P frames) or two (for B frames) references to other frames. The timecodes for such frames will be out-of-order, and the 'CTTS' atom is needed for getting the timecodes right. As it is missing the timecodes for this track might be wrong. You should watch the resulting file and make sure that it looks like you expected it to.
I tried to turn off the B-frames from Handbrake (Maximum B-frames to 0) and encoded again, but the problem didn't go away. I don't know did the Handbrake encode without B-frames really, because when I viewed the "non B-frame" file's information in Mediainfo, it still showed:
Format settings, ReFrames: 3 frames
With the exactly same settings (lossless, and with default 3 B-frames maximum), I tried with the resolutions of 1280x720, and 720x400, and with those too, the problem remains.
