Hi8 Capture problem

Hello all, i am hoping you may be able to offer a solution to a capture problem i am having. I am using a Sony DCR-TRV320e digital handycam to transfer movies to my computer using Cyberlink Powerdirector 11. Everything connects fine but transfer only occurs for a few seconds before it stops and asks me what I want to name the captured file as. I am a newbie at this and just trying to preserve family movies so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.:)
