SONY codec ?

I have previously used an ADVC300 for all my VHS tape captures ... PAL S-VHS

I carry out no processing just a straight capture using WINDV, why do the files show as being created using SONY DV codec ?
Why would it use a SONY codec ?

If I look at MediaInfo for the files they all show the following:
