Removing dirt and pock marks

Do you think this kind of dirt can be cleaned? I've looked up Descratch, but it seems to be only for large vertical/horizontal scratches, and RemoveDirt but I had no success with it. The script is quite complex so maybe it can be fine tuned to work on something like that I don't know. Those marks look too difficult to remove but I thought I might as well ask, since some plugins are really able to work small miracles :D

Hi people like I told here time ago I lost several Bluray movies from my collection that I bought on different sites but before that and using MakeMKV I make a backup on MKV format from the most, just in case.

There are various movies that contains Cinavia like The Equalizer that I like and need to remove Cinavia, because I dont have the disc anymore and I need to watch that MKV with my external disc

I tried with CineX hd but I dont know why dont remove Cinavia even tried Soundtouch 2 and sodar I know Cinex is no more available, I tried with DVDfab but I dont know how to use it I follow some guides but Dvdfab dont notice my there is Cinavia when there is it.

So, if you just could help me with this? I really need to eliminate Cinavia from those MKVs

Thank you in advance!!

AVI plays fine..3 minutes, but no metadata, says it's only 8 seconds long

Hi all, Newby here. If I'm in the wrong place please let me know. Also, I know just a bit above nothing about this stuff.
I recorded an AVI video but the cam apparently crashed before the meta (header) data was calculated and saved. The video plays fine on VLC. Even though all 3 minutes of the video plays, the time bar at the bottom of the screen shows it is an 8 second video. Also, when I right click on the file in windows explorer to get file properties, general shows 22 MB, but the details tab is completely blank.
I have other videos taken with the same cam that processed properly. They all play and the property details are complete...height, width, etc.
I have a program called HxD where I can see the Hex data and the differences between one of the good AVIs and the bad one.
I have loaded several "AVI Repair" programs but they say there is a problem and can't download or repair.
OK, now to what I need. The file needs to be joined with others but the joining software says there is a problem with the header and can't complete the task. Is there anyway I can calculate the # frames, width, height, file size, run time, and everything else that needs to be in the header (and probably indexing) so I can create a new header to make this thing work?
Thanks

Hello everyone,
I'm a newbie in studying technology. I like making translated subtitles and combined them with videos.
So I have one question.
I have 1080p 5.1Ch videos and related subtitle files (srt files).
So which software can encode?
I would like to get same quality after encoding. I mean output videos are also 1080p 5.1 Ch videos.
Thank for reading.

YouTube is remastering old music vids. Aren't they?

YouTube is started to remastering old music videos https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.theverge.com/platform/amp/2019/6/19/18691481/youtube-...d-remaster-umg
But as I see quality is crap. Looks like they just just increased quality of old files and put some denoise filters. Aren't they? The really best restoration of music video I ever see that's from Beatles this project https://youtu.be/q-dJAC2tybE
I'm wondering why record labels is not restoring old school videos, how many music hits in crap quality, what is need is just rescan film reels with modern film reel scanners which was not avialable 10 years ago

Ripping DVD's with preserved menus and compressed size

$

Hi!

This is my first post, so please be gentle ;-) (i've actually used videohelp.com from time the last 15 years, but I've never had to actually post a question).

The TL;DR of this post is: I want to rip my DVD's to a format that preserves the menus but at the same time shrinks the size to "something smaller" than the original size. And, I need software that actually can play the result.

Background: A while ago I decided to rip my DVD collection. My main concern was that I wanted the DVD's to work as it's physical equivalent, to get the same "feeling" when watched it digital, compared to putting it into the DVD player and watching it "for real". So, I started to rip them to ISO's. This worked great for the most part, the most of them were playable in Kodi, with preserved menus and all.

But, the ISO's took a lot of space. So, I switched strategy. I started to rip the DVD's to MPEG-4 instead (H.264). This meant that the size got reduced a lot, but of course I lost the menus. (another advantage if this was that I could start using Plex to watch the movies remotely).

At this point, it felt more important to reduce the size as much as possible than to have menus. So I continued on this path, and ripped the entire collection to MPEG-4 instead.

This was about a year ago. It has worked great - But, I really miss the menus. So, what i'm looking for is the following:
- A method and software to rip DVD's to a suiting format ("MPEG-4 with DVD menus"). Preferably, the software should be for MacOS, but in the worst case it can also be for Windows or Linux.
- Software (for Android) that can play this format, and has about the same features as Kodi (media library etc.). (Maybe Kodi itself can handle this kind of format?).

Is it possible?

[Vegas Movie Studio] Add white background to pictures to fit screen width?

Hello,

I need to overlay slides on a video.

The video is "720x404 [SAR 1:1 DAR 180:101]", ie. 16:9 while the slides are 960x720, ie. 4:3.

I batch-resized the slides to be 539x404, so I end up with the video showing on the sides.

Is there a way to tell Vegas to add a white background to all the overlaid pictures, or maybe a better solution?

Thank you.

[mpegts @ 02aae9e0] PES packet size mismatch

Hi everyone,

I am new on this forum, and I came because I can't find any solution to my problem after searching and searching everywhere.
The problem is stupid but so annoying.
A/I have a video with a specific grey background color, size something like 1515x850
B/I have a picture, same size 1515x850, representing small rectangle logo with the same specific grey background color and the rest with a transparent background.
In the video, I put the video in a layer, then, I add this picture (B/) and I don't know why, I get a border around the logo... but the grey color is exactly the same.
in the picture attached:
1/ video background
2/ just the logo
3/ 1/ and 2/ on the top. Anyone knows why I get this border?
Thanks a lot for your help!

Need a command line for ffmpeg

I have an issue that I need help with; I'm not all that knowledgeable about video conversion or ffmpeg. I want to rip a DVD movie, do some editing in Resolve, then re-encode it with 5.1 surround sound. When I rip the DVD with MakeMKV, then convert it to MOV to import into Resolve, I can separate the 6 audio tracks into 6 PCM streams, so that's no problem. The problem is with the framerate. MakeMKV rips the DVD with a 30fps frame rate, which persists through the conversion, editing and encoding in Resolve. However, it plays with a lot of stutter with my TV set to 60Hz; it plays the same way on several different devices. Meanwhile, if I convert the MKV with Handbrake and set the framerate to "Same as source," I get an MKV with a 24fps framerate, which plays silky-smooth with my TV set to 24 Hz. However, Handbrake isn't able to rip the MKV file with the audio streams I need. So I'm wondering if I can get the change in framerate with ffmpeg when I convert the MKV to MOV. I tried forcing a 24fps framerate with ffmpeg, but that didn't work; the framerate changed, but playback was disastrous. Obviously there's some other conversion happening with Handbrake, and I'd like to know how to duplicate it with ffmpeg. Here is the syntax I used to convert the MKV to MOV, minus that attempt to force 24fps: ffmpeg -i inputfile.mkv -c:v dnxhd -profile:v dnxhr_hq -c:a pcm_s16le -ar 48000 outputfile.mov. Thanks for any help.

I'm looking for advice on a network media player or NAS set up

Hi all - new here today, but used to look at the vcdhelp.com about 15 years ago and found it very helpful.

I'm looking for advice on a network media player or NAS set up that I can rip my DVD / Blu-Rays to so that I can access them from my Smart TV.

I want to be able to rip the movies and keep the chapter / navigation points. The initial menu and chapter choice would be great too (I'm not bothered by extras). Almost like using the old DVD Decrypter / DVD Shrink but putting it on the network to be accessed by the TV.

I had a quick skim of the threads but couldn't obviously see anything - if anyone could post a couple of links that would be great.

Thanks

Justin

Alter audio without re-encoding video

$

I have thousands of short video clips (5 seconds to 30 seconds) that have the sound either too low or to loud. I'm looking for a way to alter the audio (make it louder or quieter or silent) directly in one step. I'm trying to avoid having to extract the audio from each file, then modify it, then remux it with the video.

Are there any tools that can do this in one step? I've tried a few, but none of them can do what I'm trying to achieve. I would be happy with a command line tool even if it takes multiple steps if I could script it or automate it in some way. All my files are using .mp4 container, mpeg4 video (h264), and AAC audio.

If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

How to keep original mixing in dub?

Was dubbing over a movie and separated each audio track (7) from the blu-ray source. I realize that each one has it's own source when played with speakers, for example, center, left, right, background, center-right, etc. I just wondered when exporting the file how I identify which one is which?

I have the studio program pinnacle studio 21 for windows and it has a mixing map where you can move around a spot on a map to choose where the audio will come from. That is why I'm wondering. Thought it would be dull if all of it was in the center.

What's the best Capture Card/Software combo for capturing modern hardware?

In a bit of a predicament. I'm limited to Windows 10 on modern hardware for my VHS capture setup. I have two JVC SR-VS30U decks, and I need a good capture card for S-Video that works well on MODERN hardware. Additionally, what software is the best to use with it and what codec and color space should I use?

My plan is to capture it via the capture card method now and then once the VHS-decode software catches up, I'll use a Domesday Duplicator to get RF scans to truly archive the tapes.

Problems Playing MKV Files

$

Hi Everyone,

I wonder if anybody can shed any ideas on this. I have a 2TB external hard drive which is nearly full with various files. I have some films in MKV format that I am trying to play through an external Blu Ray player to my TV.
The MKVs play fine for the first 30 minutes or so, then the picture would freeze for a few seconds and then play again. This has been happening quite a lot on various MKV files.
Sometimes the videos would freeze for nearly a minute and then resume playing.

Does anybody have any suggestions as to why this might be happening? Thanks in advance.

how to know the position of pixels in a picture

Hi, please , i ask this query as i want to do some video edit on a video.
Now i have taken a snapshot of a video.
Now, i have to know the position of starting of a rectangle width and height to issue a ffmpeg command
For that , i need the position of start of upper part of the video
how to know the pixel position as it is very difficult to find
i have tried microsoft pic manager, it helps in resizing the picture.
i will try to know these things from an editior
But is there any easy way of knowing the pixel position.
The deduction of cropped portion in picture manager would cut the left and right most part of the video as well.
experts please
