Hauppauge PVR2 Capture (AVCHD/M2TS) to be burned to Blu Ray, no success.

I've captured a video file (Football Game), from my DVR to my PC, in M2TS format. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, in trying to burn to Blu Ray disc. I've tried TSMuxer, MultiAVCHD, etc. I get errors of it not being the right format. The sound, cannot be converted to AC3. Using ArcSoft Showbiz, to capture. The file plays fine on my PC. I guess, basically, the file isn't recognized as a Blu Ray file. I'm capturing in M2TS, because of quality. Other options, are MTS and M4A. Thank you, in advance.

Current PC: How to improve video editing performance?

$

I have a PC that is a few years old. My current build is running Windows 7 Home Premium. It has the Intel i7 4770-K processor with the ASUS H87M‑E motherboard with 16GB RAM and does not have an added graphics card. I do not game on my computer but I do quite a bit of video editing/encoding primarily using Handbrake/Vidcoder and would like to reduce the encoding time. I am trying to see if there is a way to modify my system that balances cost and performance increase. I have read online about how to safely overclock the i7 4770-K to 4.5-4.6GHz from the current 3.9GHz. I would have to swap out my motherboard to overclock because the H87M‑E motherboard does not support overclocking. The reason why I didn't add a high end graphics card and am using the integrated one on the CPU is because my understanding is graphics cards are more important to gaming and have less to do with video editing applications. I would appreciate advice on this and if it is worth it, what is to gain and what the cost associated with any potential gains would be. Thanks in advance for your help.

Resolution issue with VirtualDubMod

Hello everyone,
I am submitting here a problem I am having with VirtualDubMob (1.10.5)
I am attempting to add subtitles to a video whose resolution is 720x480. The subtitles are not an issue, the problem is that the output video shows as though it is something like 640x480 (although the details of that file do say that it is 720x480). I am too much of a novice to understand what I am doing wrong. Do any one of you have any clue?

Thank you so much.

I tried everything I know but it always gives me 5 sec of blank scene in the end. Please help! Thx

refreshing usb ports

Dell Inspiron 5520 laptop, Windows 7 home premium, 64bit, and 64bit capture drivers installed.

I had a usb capture dongle that worked for one day, I was capturing various videos, and the next day it stopped working. That is, when I insert it into the usb port (any 2.0 or 3.0) I get that familiar distorted audio chime that says it doesn't recognise the usb device. Then, when I go into device manager, the device no longer shows up. Not even a yellow explanation point.

Thinking that the device had become defective, LSS, I received a replacement. However, the device gave the same issue--it would not recognise it and did not show up in device manager either. This device, like the other one was in a sealed package, brand new.

Ok. So I got an idea, I took the new one and connected it to my thinkpad T43 laptop (windows xp pro 32bit), the one I just got (used on ebay) and it immediately recognised it and began installing the drivers. I was able to make some test captures with the device. Then, I decided to grab the so called defective one and hook it up, and sure enough, it worked without a hitch. So, both capture dongles work after all. I began telling myself that it must be a windows 7 (unique) bug or something, that some devices go into "forget" mode or something.

So, i'm thinking that I have to somehow "refresh" the usb ports

Is there any way, a simple quick way, to refresh the usb ports so that the usb capture dongle can be recognise again? Hopefully, I won't have to keep doing this every time I shut down. I'm just testing this new capture device.

Thanks in advanced.

I heavily rely on this program to convert HD material to SD format which it does well.

Today I discovered a pop-up error message.

Rebooting the computer and reinstalling the program did not help.

Typically I open a avisynth script file which in turn launches the master video file.

So, instead of opening the master video file, it gave me this:

Please refer to a screenshot of the message which should be uploaded and visible.

I cannot put any more material on my local cable station until this mystery can be resolved.

Thanks for any solutions so I can return to normal.

PLEASE HELP - Last minute video request, I am panicking

$

Hi - First off I would like to thank you in advance for anyone who will take the time to review my questions and try to help.

My daughter is in a Musical on March 23, 24 and the 25th. The Director called me last week to ask if I would record the show and put together a video for sale. I will have to produce over 300. The firm he had contracted out overbooked. To say the least I am panicking.

I am a very amateur photographer. I typically use my Canon 70D or Canon Vixia HD camcorder.

The Beauty and The Beast show is roughly two hours long with one intermission.

I was able to borrow 3 Panasonic DSX100B recorders.

Here are my questions: Please keep in mind most of the musical is moderate level of LED lighting and two of the three cameras will be in the back of the auditorium on tripods. The third will be roaming. It seems like the LED lighting really plays havoc. I did just a few tests the other night and the video just was not clear. Very grainy. Understand that moderate level lights are a challenge but the picture was not good. By the time I run through Premiere Elements it will look horrible.

What are the best camera settings to get the best picture results - Again, please keep in mind I will be creating a video using Adobe Premiere Elements and the output will be a DVD.
Frame rate
Iris
White Balance
Video Gain
Mic gain
Manual or Auto focus
Shutter speed off or should I set a shutter speed
Scene file settings - Detail level, Chroma level, etc....
Syncro scan
Aspect conversion
Etc... Etc....

Also please feel free to share any tips you feel might help!

If anyone has some time to chat I will be more than willing to provide my phone number some how.

ANY HELP will be MUCH MUCH APPRECIATED. Many people are counting on this video.

Thanks in advance - Steve

I have no idea what I did to have this occur.

I was attempting to save an image, which I did. I must of hit the wrong key the first time, because now, whenever I attempt to open a video, the screen is completely black. Sound is normal. Is there a hotkey on the program that causes this? I'm very worried.

I like to listen to wsmc.
http://www.southern.edu/administration/wsmc/
There is no problem listening by going to their website and clicking "listen live", ( or using Tune In) but I would like to be able to just open up VLC and be able to listen to the stream, without first going to their website. I played the stream with Chrome network sniffer (see screenshot) but was unable to get any workable stream url from the data that VLC would play. Can someone take a look and see if it is possible to find a url that VLC can play?

Variable Speed Reviewing Before Editing

$

Hi Everyone,
Apologies if I am posting in the wrong section, but this is my first post here, so still feeling my way.

I am looking for advice on software with which I can speed up the process of editing miles (literally) of .mp4 and .mov dashcam footage.

Whichever software I end up with, MUST have the facility for increasing the speed of "reviewing" by x4 x8 or even x16 times otherwise, if I am forced to review at the "apparently standard" speeds of software I have trialled so far ---- I shall be an extremely old man by the time I finish.

So that I don't waste anyone's time --- I have tried most of the standard dashcam viewing software (none of which provides editing) and, although Registrator Viewer fits the bill in many respects, it's ability to vary the speeds (other than reducing) is haphazard at best.

I wish also to avoid Corel/Pinnacle software due to very poor experience(s) with their support Agents.

All suggestions gratefully received,

Thank you,

Ian

General video game play recording concepts and capture card help.

I have been doing tests with various applications and a couple of capture cards. Searching the web has taken me far, but it's time to sort some concepts with the community. My questions are an attempt to sort out my concepts and what I should consider for hardware and software encoding. I am focused on recording video game play.

How does one determine if a hardware encoder is available on a capture card? Do either of the two capture cards I am testing with have any hardware encoders?
StarTech PEXHDCAP60L (rebadged Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI)
AverMedia C027.

Why are some applications able to record in x264, without me installing the x264 codec?

I have played with the usual OBS, Xsplit, AmarecTV. Also vendor supplied software such as Stream Catcher (from StarTech) and Aver MediaCenter 3D. Other than AmarecTV, they were all capable of recording game play and encoded video on the fly into x264 in an mkv or mp4 container (and other formats). It did not bury my CPU. As far as I know, my GPU was not used.

Why did AmarecTV not offer this, until I installed the K-Lite codec mega pack?

After installing the codec pack, AmerecTV offered x264. Why did choosing that bury my CPU? (1st gen Core i7). The other applications using x264 did not push my CPU beyond 30%

Does this mean applications such as OBS have their own version of the codec already compiled in?

Any general advise for recording and archiving gameplay? Record lossless and encode after? Encode on the fly and be happy?

Can multi channel audio be bit streamed and saved into the video?

Can GPU or encoder chip load be monitored the same as a CPU can be?

Thank you experts and fellow geeks.

Good method/workflow for Video Conversion for multiple devices

$

Hello all,

New to this forum. I tried to search for questions on this and I'm sure I missed some threads but not exactly sure how to search for this question/advice.

I've been converting video for a while, ripped DVDs, downloads, etc. so not so much a noob, but I keep getting caught up in my workflow. I have a library in itunes, which I want to main high resolution videos, but I also like to have smaller res version for phones, tablets and to stick on SD cards for my video head unit in my car.

What I'm curious about is does anyone have a good workflow process for converting and managing different version of videos. Some issues I come up against is:
-Keeping track of different version inside or outside of itunes, with out cluttering up playlists,
-having to covert videos multiple time to ensure subtitles are properly selected and encoded,
-really knowing which resolution is the best for the devices it will play on and keep track of versions
-file output locations and naming conventions
-keeping track of optimal settings and knowing which version of video conversions are not yet done (eg. created high res version and iphone version, another version was missed).

Are these stupid questions? Either way appreciate any advice available. Thanks.

.avi interlace or progressive flag

$

Hi, please can you help a c*t?

I have 2 video .avi files:

one is an uncompressed interlaced video file https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/39871584/INTERLACE.AVI

and one is uncompressed progressive video file https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/39871584/PROGRESSIVE.AVI

MediaInfo correctly recognize the interlaced one as interlaced, and the progressive one as progressive.

But now I wonder: using the HEX editor, can I modify a flag of the progressive one so that it is recognized as interlaced?

Thanks
