I was recording a stream to FLV and midway through the streamer switched from 640x480 recording to 800x600. When you seek through the video it's all glitchy because it will jump between resolutions depending on where you seek. Is there a way where I can force the video to stay 800x600 the whole way through without converting?

Is VP9 Available Yet in a Smart Render Editor?
I asked this question a while back, but I did a forum search and there's nothing very up-to-date on this, so I figured it doesn't hurt to ask.
I like using smart render editors, like VideoReDo and TMPGEnc Smart Renderer. Most of my editing consists of chopping down video files, and deleting portions. For that reason, there is no reason in most cases for me to take video down a generation, e.g. transcoding it. That is why I like the smart render editors.
I am in the market now for a smart render editor that can handle the newer audio and video codecs, like the VP9 and 265 video codecs and the Opus audio codec. Does such an animal exist?
Also, on a slightly related matter, I'm in the market for a full editing software app that can do smart rendering. I've been using the Adobe app, Premiere Elements, PE, when that need arises (rarely), but the version of PE I use does not do smart rendering. Is there an editor app with similar capabilities to PE that can also do smart rendering? If yes, what are the newest audio and video codecs that this app can handle?
One of the reasons I'm asking is because I've been offered access to a collection of videos that are available both in VP9 and 264. As I understand it, VP9 is superior, so I'm tempted to take the VP9 copies. On the other hand, if I can't find editing software to handle VP9, I'm thinking perhaps I'm better off taking the 264 copies instead. So I'm a bit torn. Thanks!

I recently purchased Aimersoft DVD Creator to burn some Video (mp4 format) to DVD's. My first attempt went quite well. My second attempt to bun a MP4 file brought this message; "Sorry, the program does not support importing the following files so far;" I have sent this information to Aimersoft but nothing back yet. I am here hoping to get lucky and find faster help.

Windows7 end of life, no good all-in-one capture options for 10
**Even though this is computer related it's mainly about capture**
I am thinking about building a new PC for analog video capture, with the options for digital and analog audio capture. Currently have Win7/64 but with end of life in two years seems I'm forced to upgrade to 10.
This post is to reach out to anyone who currently captures analog video from vcr/laserdiscs etc and looking to be able to do all of what you currently do with Win 10.
My current soundcard (Foscusrite Scarlett 18i6) isn't compatible with 10. And the newer version 18i8 captures at 24bit, I need 16 bit for digital audio captures, 24bit for analog is fine. I capture the digital track from laserdiscs which is 16/44.1k and when capturing at 24 bit the audio gets sped-up and the pitch changes. The audio track ends before the video. I have on loan a Motu HD Express (not Win 10 compatible) which has a s/pdif input and allows you to select 44.1 or 48, and has a bit depth of 16. I don't have the audio sync issue when capturing at 16bit. When I capture digital audio that's 16bit/48k at 24bit, I don't have the issue. And when I capture analog 16/44.1k at 24bit, no issue. So I've determined that capturing digital audio 16/44.1 at 24bit is the problem.
As far as video cards I've only found one pcie card for Win 10 that can capture digital s/pdif audio (not AES/EBU) and it's $2000 (Osprey 827e). It only does 8bit, I'd like the option for 8 & 10bit uncompressed. It only captures audio at 48k but I can live with that. Even though everyone says to do bit-perfect captures when doing laserdisc audio.
Since I finally have all the gear for every video and audio options I need, do I do the stupidest thing is the world and build for Win7 or is it dumber to build for 10 knowing I won't be able to capture all of my options.

Hauppauge Colossus capture settings
I have Hauppauge's first generation Colossus. I've been using it to record shows on cable for years, but I've never been able to set the capture settings in order to match the cable box video output. I'm using the HDMI output to capture to the Colossus, through a ViewHD HDMI splitter.
I've attached 2 jpegs from captures : one using the firewire output from the cable box, the other using the Colossus (at default proc amp settings).
The reds on the Colossus captures have more orange than the firewire capture, while the luma is darker. The Colossus has proc amp settings, for brightness, contrast, hue and saturation, but I cannot find the right combination that will give me something close to the firewire output.
(I know, the easiest solution would be to capture only through firewire, but this isn't an option for me : my cable company uses the infamous SA83000 boxes, which produce dropouts on the firewire capture when the bitrate goes over 15 Mbps)
Can anybody share their Colossus proc amp capture settings ?

Questions about capturing via screen, videos
Greetings, I'm wondering about capturing video by the screen capture method. First, is the quality of the capture better with a better monitor at say higher resolution, or is it the graphics card output that is really the important thing? And second, what screen capture software that some of you have used, do you use or recommend?

DVD causing Incorrect Disc error, when previously no error
I have been editing videos and authoring DVDs using Pinnacle Studio for over 20 years and have never had this problem. Upgraded to Studio 20 finally (after many years of using Studio 12). Was able to create plenty of DVDs with Studio 20 that worked just fine. However, the last two videos I've created and written to DVD have caused an "incorrect disc" error, even though I've used the same methods for years. The DVDs work fine on the computer and in my old portable DVD player, but give an error in the blu-ray/DVD player and in the TV/DVD combo. Previous DVDs created the same way work fine, as do any DVDs I create using the new DVD menu file with an old rendered file that worked fine (i.e. using the DVD file and just replacing the AVI for chapter 1). Anytime I try to insert any newly created video file, I get an unreadable disc (whether AVI or WMV) Same thing when I write to DVD without a menu ... previously created video works fine, newly created doesn't. Writing RAW video to a DVD works fine, but as soon as I combine it with something else and render it ... the video causes the error. It's when I use the raw video and/or pictures to create a new AVI/WMV that I seem to have a problem. I've tried a new burner and reinstalling Studio, just to check, to no avail. Any ideas? (I can't go back and check the settings I used, because I never deliberately changed them ... I always used the defaults ... :-( ) (Sorry if this is rambling, I've tried so many different things I'm quite at a loss!)

Terrible picture problem with new monitor and graphic card
Ever since I've recently bought a new monitor and graphic card I'm seeing this terrible things on faster scene changes, or is it between frames (you can see my hardware profile). With the ten year old monitor and graphic card before these there was practically nothing visible of this problem, how do you call it, judder? Happens more or less when I play a video in various software players, VLC, MPC, YT. Something to change in the graphic card settings maybe?
Here's an example how it looks to me on my monitor, graphic card currrently set to "high performance" in advanced settings:

Which alternative produces a better picture quality?
I've tried 2 approaches in getting mkv file from a single source: A bdmv file sent to me of an old Japanese movie.
MakeMkv: I got a 26 gb mkv file, 1920x1080, with very high specs (media info).
DvdFab: I got a much smaller mkv file, 15 gb, 1920x820 with much lower specs.
The DvdFab produced the movie ONLY without the black horizontal frames which appear when I play it on a large 65" OLED screen.
I fully understand that the screen shows these 2 black frames because of the different ratio. (1:2.32 vs 1:1.78)
Assuming that I don't care about those black lines, I'd like to know whether there is REALLY a difference in picture quality or the mediainfo specs just reflect the difference in ratio?
Following are the mediainfo specs:

The old "Out Of Memory" issue with DVD Shrink, Related to one VOB file
So I made a DVD of some old home movies using DVD Lab Pro. It's a little over 6GB, and I tried to shrink it to fit on one disc. I kept getting that nagging "Out Of Memory" error from DVD Shrink, so as I tried changing a few settings and rebuilding the DVD I noticed that DVD Shrink issue happens every time at the same point; where one specific M2V ends and the next begins. I noticed it always crashes when trying to convert VTS_01_3.VOB. I found somewhere online some info that says to run FixVTS on it.
I download FixVTS, I open up the folder with the DVD files, I tell it to fix the whole folder. It gets to VTS_01_3.VOB and an error pops up;
"Couldn't open VTS_01_3.VOB for read/write."
I open this VOB file in VLC and it plays like a champ.
Is there any more "robust" program that can fix a VOB file? I don't want to convert it to MPG, I already have the original files. I suppose if I HAD to I could re-author it so that one disc has the first M2V and the other has the second one, but I really wanted to get this all on one disc. Anyone got any suggestions?

Please, could you help me to set the x264 parameters in order to reduce these artifacts? I wish result in almost HD@1Mbps. Thanks in advance!

Encode x264 Interlaced from VirtualDub
I'm currently working on encoding some of my uncompressed VHS captures. With Avidemux, encoding interlaced x264 is easy as there's some interlace/progressive options under the frame tab. From here I've been able to add multiple jobs and run them at once, usually overnight since encoding can take some time.
I've recently discovered VirtualDub2, which also can queue multiple jobs. I'd prefer to work in VD but I'm having some trouble encoding interlaced. From the generated error, it appears that I have the right syntax. However, it looks like the combination of the weightp parameter and interlace isn't possible together. From the media info, I can see that weightp=2 but it's automatically being set.
I know that I could do this from command line entirely outside of VirtualDub but I'd like to stick to using it, if possible, because I feel like it's the easiest and fastest way to encode the video and perform corrections.

MacBook Pro 2013 w/ Avermedia Live Gamer Extreme/Extreme2/Ultra for PS3?
I'm keen on purchasing one of the below products and curious whether my system is powerful enough. I'm hoping to play my Playstation 3 through my MacBook Pro via Windows 10 Bootcamp, I've no interest in any streaming/recording capabilities and just merely wish to use my notebook as a portable tv screen for while I'm out on the move travelling.
My Macbook Pro is a late 13inch model (A1502) containing a 2.4 GHz (i5-4258U) dual-core Intel Core i5 Haswell processor with 3 MB shared L3 cache, 8 GB 1600 MHz PC3-12800 DDR3L, Intel Iris 5100 Graphics with DDR3L SDRAM shared with main memory.
How will my system cope playing Playstation 3/4 in full screen? And as mentioned I'm uninterested in recording/streaming etc, just merely wish to play the game on my MacBook without lag.

FFmpeg scaler flags: full_chroma_inp, full_chroma_int, accurate_rnd ?
Hello,
I am downscaling some 4K videos to 1080p with FFmpeg.
Both input and output should be standard H.264 - 8-bit, YUV 4:2:0.
I'm not quite sure if I understand the meaning of the following scaler flags - could you help me with these?

I'm not quite sure if I understand the meaning of the following scaler flags - could you help me with these?
- full_chroma_inp - this forces scaler to treat the input as full YUV 4:4:4, right? So it doesn't make sense to use it in my case?
- full_chroma_int - this is about using the full YUV 4:4:4 for internal processing when rescaling? Would it change anything if I apply -pix_fmt yuv420p afterwards anyway?
- accurate_rnd - "Enable accurate rounding". I assume it is somewhat slower but more precise mode? Which would result in a slightly sharper result?
