Hi People!
For days I have been trying to download a video from an online course in where I'm enrolled.
I tried in all ways to use my credentials (password, login, registration) to download the video, but it fails all the time. I confess that I am kind of noob but I'm trying to read some similar issues...
What I find strangest is being able to see the available formats for download, but not be abble to download it. I can't provide all the comand because there are my credentials, but look:

Help ! master.m3u8 pointing to wrong video !

Hi !

I'm trying to download this football match from this website (before downloading i always try to see if livestreamer is capable of playing it)

(you may need an italian vpn):
http://www.sportmediaset.mediaset.it/mondiali-russia-2018/fifa/calendario.shtml?match_...4-5d84a42a50b9

I'm on win10 pro and using firefox (60.0.2 version) for the purpose.
Using "browser console" (tools--->web developer--->browser console) and filtering the results searching "m3u8", i get these links:

HTML Code:

https://fwc2018-live-mset.akamaized.net/hls/replay/629174/108555-mset/master.m3u8 (only video)
https://fwc2018-live-mset.akamaized.net/hls/replay/629174/108555-mset/master-128.m3u8 (only audio)

Right click on "master.m3u8" (only master.m3u8 has the whole link with hdnea exp hmac parameters) and then the weird thing:

If i use livestreamer (1.12.2 version) with this syntax:

Code:

livestreamer "hlsvariant://https://fwc2018-live-mset.akamaized.net/hls/replay/629174/108555-mset/master.m3u8?hdnea=exp=1529353314~acl=/*~hmac=27bf8bc6000d1f69cc04f04e299bcf1dbb26901192d723fab5ea263e71ea13a3" best
vlc opens up but it shows a complete different video ! It's a tv-series episode broadcasted few hours before the game !

Then i tried the audio link (vlc opens only if i use hls; hlsvariant doesn't work)

Code:

livestreamer "hls://https://fwc2018-live-mset.akamaized.net/hls/replay/629174/108555-mset/master-128.m3u8?hdnea=exp=1529353314~acl=/*~hmac=27bf8bc6000d1f69cc04f04e299bcf1dbb26901192d723fab5ea263e71ea13a3" best
and vlc plays the audio track of that same tv-series episode !

It's not only this game to have this weird behaviour, but it happens for EVERY game !

Every single game is correctly shown through website player but their matching "master.m3u8 link" points to a complete different video !

Than i tried streamlink (0.13.0 version) but this shows up:

This website requires to login (creating an account is totally free) but if you don't do this, every game starts playing anyway,
but after few minutes a message appears inviting you to login in order to keep watching the football match.

I tried both ways (logged and not) but nothing changes ! Always same wrong videos !

So it looks like login credentials have no influence on getting the right link.

So whatever match i want to download, i always get a wrong video despite using the master.m3u8 link provided by firefox browser console !

Do you have any idea how to manage to get the correct master.m3u8 ?

I really hope you can help me out !

Amazon Fire TV VPN

I've had a problem for the last 18 months, failing to get a VPN working properly on my Fire TV.

It's a 2nd gen. model, with the latest software version.

I have an account with PIA, but could not login using their APK, and i WAS using the right password and user name!

Recently tried the free Ultrasurf, which installed and connected, but was buggy, causing the Fire to freeze up.

Recently i paid for IPVanish, regarded as the most Fire friendly, and lo and behold, had the same issue with logging in!

Any theories or suggestions here folks?

I'm awaiting a response from IPVanish, but if anything like PIA, they will be stumped!

Can't decide if this is a software or firmware issue.

I could factory reset the Fire, but i'd like to avoid if poss.

I'm sure it shouldn't be this difficult!

Downloading a YouTube 4:3 video, to be played back on a 4:3 TV

Hey Guys,

Looking for days for a forum like this. Hopefully you can help me, would be very awesome :)

Ther're lots of movies from my Childhood on YouTube. Most of them are not possible to buy on DVD.
A few months ago someone posted a whole serie on YouTube I was looking for for years. It can't be bought on DVD, so I like do download it.

I've some very old TV sets (I'm a Collector of Tubes Electronics), wich have the 4:3 screen aspect. The intention is to playback the downloaded 4:3 movie on such a TV set.

I found several YouTube download programmes, but they give all the same problem: a downloaded 4:3 YouTube movie gives, even on a 4:3 TV, left and right black bars.

My question is: Is there a program wich downloads the YouTube 4:3 movie correct, so it can be played back correctly on a 4:3 TV? I like to write te file on a DVD.

Thanks a lot!
Gert

Video capture software for zoom meeting

I need a video capture software to capture a zoom meeting of one to two hours in length. Preferably one which will automatically stop recording when the meeting is over? It can run on either windows 7 or Linux Mint as I have a dual boot machine. It would also be nice if I could place comments or bookmarks in the video although not essential.

This is the mediainfo for the first. Why would it make part files with no content. Presume it is OK to delete these in all circumstances?

Will we ever see true master quality video?

$

I always get a chuckle when people refer to a DVD or Blu-Ray rip as a master. Yes, it's true that for the end user, it's the first generation of a video that they may choose to encode to a (usually) smaller file, but it's far from the true master which is multiple terabytes and a color range far beyond UHD.

The analogy may fail in the digital realm, but the term master was never used to refer to consumer tapes or vinyl records. There was "Direct from Master" or "Direct to Disc", but it was understood that this was still at best a 2nd generation reproduction. To me, the only true master in the digital realm is the original file (raw or compressed) and everything else is a 2nd generation copy with necessary losses (resolution, color reduction/grading).

I fully understand the studios reluctance to allow the release of true masters, but with ultra high end home theaters approaching and possibly overtaking some multiplexes in size and quality, and given the willingness to pay a premium, will true master quality video ever be allowed. Again, a jump back to the analog realm, where those with the money and right connections could buy and own 35mm prints of movies, which were of course 2nd generation at best.

Of course, today's technology isn't capable of full 4k and color fidelity, but what about the future as standalone theaters screens continue to shrink in size and quality, and the size and quality of home theaters grows. I look to IMAX as an example, where starting at $1 mil, an IMAX Private Theatre can be built.

Confirmation on old tech PC to receiver surround sound

Hello,

Hoping to get some help on a PC to Stereo receiver connection based on my constraints. Got an old Asus P5QL-VM EPU motherboard that has the orange, black, and green lines out. Capable of 7.1 channels (I only want 5.1). For the receiver, I have an even older Sony STR DE335 that has no digital inputs whatsoever. I have never hooked up a PC to a receiver before but from the research I have done it looks like I use 3 3.5mm to Red/White rca cables and connect them like:

Green port on PC to both Front RCA connections on Stereo
Black port on PC to both Rear RCA connections on Stereo
Orange port on PC to Center and Subwoofer connections on Stereo

sound right?

Other questions:

Will I have to remove my video card I have installed (and connected to my HDTV via HDMI) in order for motherboard sound to work? Meaning I won't be able to use the video card HDMI and sound to the TV and the motherboard sound to the receiver?

Is there likely configuration in windows that I will have to do to get sound porting to the right channels?

Thanks in advance for any help provided!

Getting video link from URL to feed livestreamer

$

Hi!

There's certain streaming I'd like to save but it won't be available till the moment it starts. I have the link though (it says unavailable if you open it now), and it's in this format: http://vmf.edge-apps.net/embed/live.php?streamname=<name of the stream>&autoplay=true

I've installed livestreamer and wanted to try recording something else from "vmf.edge-apps.net" to try it out, since there's no time for trying things when the stream I want starts.

So, there's this TV channel, http://www.tvpublica.com.ar/vivo/, that if you look in the page's source you can find a link in the same format as above. Here's the link: http://vmf.edge-apps.net/embed/live.php?streamname=c7live01-20034&autoplay=true

I looked around and found this thread: https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/379186-Tricky-stream-to-download-%28

A kind user there shows the OP the command line for livestreamer, but I'm curious to know how did he extract the "hlsvariant://" link, given that the OP only posted a link from vmf.edge-apps.net

Thanks for any help

Create Plain Text Transcript From Incremental SRT Subtitle

Hi, my goal is to be able to run a script to remove duplicate strings of text and merge what remains from incremental style subtitles to create a plain text transcript of just the text contents of the subtitle file (sans subtitle timings or any format commands or control characters).

An example to help you help me.

I want this SRT file with incremental subtitles (there are two rows of subtitles showing at all times, the currently spoken subtitle and the previous subtitle for slow readers, this is similar to what you see on T.V. with real-time captions.

All the text is merged with no overlapping duplicates and all on one line. I'd prefer to use command line tools available on the MacOS platform if possible, I use MacPorts and have GNU Core Utilities installed. I can use GUI software, or Windows 10 in a virtual machine for a one-off quick fix, but I'd like an automated bash script or similar that I can trigger on the MacOS platform.

My scripting abilities are quite rudimentary even if I dabble from time to time. My first thought is to regex out the subtitle line numbers and time codes, that should be easy enough for even me. But then how to set up the array and how to compare/match complete lines to partial lines up to maybe 5 or 6 subtitles forward or back in either direction in the array, and then to concatenate/merge whatever is left is well over my head. Would much appreciate guidance on figuring this out.

I've attached the sample subtitle as seen in the screenshot for the convenience of anyone who wants to play around with this and help me out.

Thanks

Aspect ratio, size conversion problem, 4:3 to 16:9

Hi there,
I have been trying with different tools and settings to convert a video file to eventually burn to a NTSC DVD together with another video file.

The file is 480 x 360, ratio 4:3, 29 fps

The other video file has ratio 16:9 already and 29 fps.

I have tried with VirtualDub using different filters for resizing.

I also tried a tool called Video to Video which have worked without problems before until this video file started to bug me.

Whenever I convert it, it only ends in the video image getting black bars on the side, not in the bottom as expected.

Maybe I am using the wrong filters or settings. I am not sure.

Is there any specific settings that need to be set in VirtualDub filters for instance to get a better sized image? I want it to be like widescreen, not like a square image in a black box, if you understand what I mean....

Thank you in advance!

Freeware that allows insertion of additional clips?

Hello.
I have a bluray of a film, and a DVD version featuring an exclusive scene (the cut of the film with the extra scene is unavailable in HD). What I'd like to do all up is add that scene to the HD footage, and sync the audio from the DVD (the bluray only has a dubbed soundtrack).

At the moment, I have the footage. I've upscaled the DVD scene. I'm curious if there's an editor that will allow me to add that scene in, and reencode with as little quality difference as possible? Most of the ts editors I've seen only seem to support appending clips at the beginning or end, rather than allowing it to be input at a specific point.

I'm working with the m2ts from the bluray, so I was thinking of rendering the upscaled footage in the same format. But I'm open to working with the footage in an alternate format.

Thanks.

Hi there,
has anyone had problems importing text (.txt) into aegisub? I had no problems the first few times around, but now it seems it only imports and one subtitle text.
In other words, I have a 2 page txt document, and when importing it, it shows as one long subtitle. Does anyone know what I am not doing right?
Thanks

Basic question about video capture

$
0

I'd appreciate some clarification about digital video capture. So a typical consumer camcorder might record 1080p at 30 fps (frames per second) and 60 Mbps (megabits per second). As such, each frame is 1/30 sec in duration so there are 60/30 = 2 Mb available for each frame. For a 1080p frame, there are roughly 2 million pixles and they have to use 2 million bits of data, or on average one bit per pixel. Under the same conditions, a 4K frame would on average have 1/2 bit of data for each pixel.

I understand that there is compression going on, but that doesn’t seem like a lot of data for each frame of color video. So how do they do it and end up with what looks like high quality video? Thanks.
