How can I make a preview video from a movie?

Hello

I want a way to make 2 minute preview video from a 45 minutes movie (Automatically)

Assume that I have a movie its duration around 43 min, I want to take 3 seconds splits every X times then merge those splits into one file to produce a 2 minute long video.

How could I do this? and with which programs/scripts?
It will be great too if I could do this to multiple files at once (batch)

Thanks in advance

Panasonic NV-VP31 - Image Flickers On & Off

I'm trying to convert some videos from VHS to my mac using a Blackmagic Shuttle Thunderbolt.

Normal tapes just show up black (presumably copy protection) - the ones I'm copying don't have that problem, but the picture just flickers on and off.

If I get hold of a Panasonic nv-hs860 would that work better?

Thanks.

Hello,

I was wondering if it's possible to fix video that has odd 'bob' to it, like it was improperly deinterlaced (I think so) without access to original recording.

The video that shows what I am talking about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpU9R4p5AdQ

I have a video that comes from The Bad World Tour in 87 but the quality is extremely damaged

I've tried playing around with the brightness and contrast but it honestly made the video worse.

My only hope is this place I'm wondering if anything can be done.

Struggles when playing back certain 4K files in MPC-HC

$

When I play back some 4K files, my CPU usage is pinned at 100%, frames are dropped, and the video lags. When I play other 4K files, everything works just fine. I've established that everything plays smoothly when I play 4K H.264 files, but my computer starts struggling when playing 4K HEVC files. This might just be because playing back HEVC is a bit tougher than playing back H.264 files, but my CPU usage doesn't go much higher than 35% when playing H.264, so I should be fine playing HEVC files?
I think I might have discovered what is causing these issues though, and that is that even though I use the same settings to play both videos, MPC-HC seems to be unable to use hardware acceleration to play the HEVC files, while it has no problem doing that with H.264 files. This is shown in these images: http://i.imgur.com/LGvt1vN.png and http://i.imgur.com/SmQRxeK.png . I've also noticed, that despite using the same settings, both videos are played using different decoders: http://i.imgur.com/liMuRai.png .
So my question is, if anyone knows why this is happening, and if/how I can possibly fix this? Here are some images of my settings in MPC-HC, write a comment if you want me to screenshot something else: http://i.imgur.com/lPPaYpz.png and http://i.imgur.com/qaLsDPk.png . One thing I might want to add is that the video that I can't play properly is a .ts file, while the file that works well is a .mp4. I Don't know if this matters.
Furthermore my PC specs are this:
- Core I7-3570K @ 4.20GHz
- GTX 970
- 16 GB Ram
Any help/advice/ideas are appreciated, and sorry if this is a stupid post/question, I don't know too much about video players/formats/codecs/playback :)
Thanks!

Fastest cleanest way to recompress video to be smaller?

I am looking for a fast clean easy drag and drop dead simple. Drop video click go solution for making a big file into a small file.

I could not find my camcorder last night (it makes nice tight 720p files that are good enough without being HUGE) so I had to use my 5dMKII

and holy crap did it make some big files. great quality for sure but I simply do not need that kind of quality for this subject matter. 22 hours later and I am murdering the hotel wifi :-) hehe

I found the camcorder (phewww) but is there a good solution for taking the insane 1080p files the canon makes and rapidly and easily simply recompressing them to lower quality 720p files.

I am using mpeg stream clip now and it both seems to be working and is working pretty fast too (pretty decent I7 laptop with k4000 video 4gb HP Elitebook 8770w)

any suggestions? I would also love a replacement for mpeg stream clip as it "works" on my 4k flight videos (yeah huge files but thats ok when you want quality and the clips are 10 to 30 seconds :-)

mpeg stream clip DOES let me cut them but not "see" them (lumix) I have to know in advance what time index locations I want to be my start and finish and do it "blind" though it does munge the files once in a while or just pukes and won't touch a file. it also have a big problem letting me "merge" files. I either lose audio sync or lose audio all together and other programs have trouble dealing with the resulting file (understandable I am surprised it will even touch my 4k files)

is there something better/newer/more compatible? drag and drop simple UI pick start pick end cut the file without recompressing and let me merge resulting clips into one file etc..

any help is greatly appreciated!

Converting video for website

Can anybody help me???

Being behind the times, I discovered the the Quicktime movies on my website were no longer working automatically (just showing black box with arrow) and an easily missed “activate Quicktime” message. So, on researching I find I need to convert the videos to HTML5 (WebM, ogg, etc). I have an iweb site hosted by Macmate. Macmate’s advice was to convert using MIRO. However, all the info on Miro is outdated, and anyway, it seemed very complicated. In fact, there is scant info about converting individual vids post 2012.

Then I stumbled across JW player . After getting excited by the idea that all I would need to do it embed this player on the relevant web page, my brain started scrambling when I started to read the instructions. I watched a few Youtube tutorials but again, the process seemed to involve lots of coding and technical stuff that didn’t particularly relate (I have 12 very short, small movies – all around 2 mins or under on the same page). I am on the verge of paying someone to do this for me, but don’t want to do that and then discover there IS a simple, straightforward way of converting and uploading that a even a technophobe can understand.

Any advice very gratefully received.

Keep Interlacing while processing a video

Hey everybody,
I was trying to restore some VHS footage I captured some months ago and the input footage is PAL Interlaced (Top Field First). I'd like to export it out of Avisynth keeping the interlacing, as I don't want to deinterlace it. Can anybody tell me how to do it? I assume I should do something like a deinterlace > reinterlace process as I have to crop and resize my footage.

Thank you.

Adobe premiere export settings for Best quality and lowest filesize?

I am using adobe premiere pro cs6

I am running windows 8.1 (64 bit)

I am trying to cut a portion of duration 7min. 15s minutes from a big video. I am using h264 encoding for the final output as an mp4 file. The sad part is, I am choosing bitrate of 3mbps and still the quality is low (gets pixelated at some points and has low resolution) of the final output of video. The final video has 1920x1080 dimensions but the resolution i.e. the dpi seems to be low.

The source video has a bit rate of 1792 kbps and looks very sharp. What should I do so that my final video is crisp?

The official music videos and trailers on youtube have a very sharp quality and a low file size. I want the same settings for exporting my videos such that the quality is the highest and the file size is the lowest. I shoot videos from my phone camera. It makes a 7-8 minute video of 1GB file size. On the other hand, a very high quality youtube video of 720 p resolution of approximately 1 hour 15 minutes length has that file size.

BDRebuider skipping frames but ONLY on certain disks

Hi,

I've been using BDRebuilder for some time now, to shrink my BD-50 blu-ray disks in order to make a copy onto BD-25 disks (because BD-50 disks are too expensive). Problem is that BDRebuilder, although great in quality, is making some of my copies to skip frames. It displays the same frame for let's say half a second than skips the rest, moves to the following and so on. Those disks are unplayable. I tried on my BD computer writter, on my standalone player and the result is the same. Some disks work flawlessly, which is weird, becaue I am using the same settings to every disk. I'm guessing that some encoders or something else have problems with some discs. For instance, discs 1 and 2 from The Big Bang Theory box-set work perfect, but disc 3 not, it skips frames. What to do please ? Thanks.

Hi.
i hope this is the right place to post this. if not i apologize.
im pretty new to the whole analog video mixing thing but im in love with it :)
ive been playing around with my Videonics ve , MX - 50 and a Fairlight cvi.
but im just playing and there are some things i just cant find answers to online.
im trying to figure out what would be the best way to connect them all and also how to output 2 video sources from my pc to these toys
from what i understand if i will connect the fairlight via RGB instead of composite i should get better results ?
is there any video card out there that would output and capture RGB and composite ?
ive seen the ArcadeVGA but im not sure this is the thing i need.

i hope this makes sense ..
any help would be much appreciated
tnx a lot

Unable to open MOV files

I am unable to open some mov files that I took with my Fuji Finepix HS25EXR. The first 4 open with no problem but the last 14 will not open and when I try opening them with Videos in Linux Mint I get an error message that says it was unable to determine the stream type. I normally have the camera in EXR mode but after I found I had a problem I found the camera was in advanced mode. I don't know what effect that would have on videos. I ran FFMPEG against one of the bad files and this is what it told me:

I ran Untrunc against the file giving it a good file also it it ran for 10 hours before I finally stopped it with no results.

I have posted on Linuxquestions.org also. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix these files? Thank you.

Running Mediainfo against the file that won't open and one that will that should have been very similar gave me this:

QTGMC vs TFM for Progressive Source

$

Hi Everyone,

Been a bit confused but I have a source that has a lot of combing (because the fields are from different moments) and it's in no discernible pattern (3:2, etc). What would be the right step in removing the combs from this file? Run it through TFM() - which seems to do a good job - or QTGMC?

I heard TFM() is for progressive material and de-interlacers are for materials that have fields source from different moments...but the whole thing doesn't make sense to me. TFM() can recover progressive frames from combing - which obviously implies different field moments..

The source is also interlaced (not progressive)...so not sure when people say "this is for progressive material" they mean before the source was put onto a DVD?

Just a lot of confusion as to this thing

Need help about subtitle resolution

Hi,

I have new prob from Staxrip. Today i was trying to encode THAI subtitle to HD vdo but it has a prob as seen below

Attachment 37950 (click for full size)

I don't know why and how to fix it because the original video's resolution is HD.

I used to encode subtitle by staxrip before but I never have this kind of prob with HD video. All probs that happened are from bad quality.

for more information:

1. I used avsynth (vapour is can't use. idk why)
2. video is .mp4
3. I have 4 videos. One of them was clearly perfect subtitle but the rest of them have probs
4. These 4 videos were dubbed

Attachment 37951 (click for full size)

Sorry if my explaination is not good. If you need more details pls ask me.

Thanks in advance.
