HI but please, respect for cats

I wonder if is there a program like avfs (avisynth virtual file system) that can generate an AVI uncompressed fake-file (virtual file) that, a difference of avfs, can take a pure interlaced output. So that the NLE can correctly recognize that content is really interlaced.

AVFS take only a progressive output, even if content is interlaced. But also I would like a .avi file that is flagged as interlaced. If possible, thanks

laptop ports not working

Hi, what do you do when your ports do not work ?

I'm trying to use my ADVC-100 on this laptop but it won't work as soon as I connect it to the firewpire port (4pin from advc-100 -to- 6pin on the pcmcia card).

I have the IBM thinkbad T43 with Windows XP Pro sp3, 32bit, and I have two newly purchased pcmcia firewire cards that appear to work but that when I connect something to them, I get the familiar exclemasion (!) error message. I am currently having two problems. The first is with the ADVC-100 over firewire, and the second is with an i/o card over pcmcia.

First problem: As for the ADVC-100, I am receiving the familiar error code 31. I found this page (below) but it still does not help me. (scroll to code 31) The advc will not work because I can't seem to figure out how to resolve this. (I thought it might be a resource thing, and so I disabled the com port and wifi port, thinking I have free'ed up at least two resources) Thus, I can't resolve this issue. see link below for best guestimate.

Second problem: I am using an i/o card (an laptpo pc expansion card) via a pcmcia 34mm card. When everything is connected, all is working correctly, however, it won't complete due to an error with the i/o driver. Per the seller, it does not require any drivers. However, in device manager, under the "System device" branch, I am getting the audible 3-tone sound when connected, with the (!) error as "PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge".

I have been searching all week and am stumped and can't seem to resolve this. Can anyone please help me get these two things working ?

Can't play video in AVIDemux

I have the latest version of AVUDemux on my Mac running Sierra. It loads and saves videos fine, but I can't scrub through them or play within the app. The same videos work in AVIDemux on Windows. Any thoughts on how to get them to play in the app?

Recording video without blurring using Canon 550d

Hi,
I need to record videos to make tutorials to teach handwriting. I have recoded the videos so many times at this stage using different camera settings and they are all coming out blurry! I know it might have to do with the depth of field so have tried to adjust this but I really don't know what I'm doing! I've tried looking at Youtube tutorials, etc but still haven't solved the problem!
Can anyone tell me what settings they think would be best to shoot close up, clear videos of my hand writing each letter? I need them to be close up ( the copy page will take up most of the frame)
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Xvid4PSP video resize errors! Need help!

I need help. I'm trying to convert a 1280x720 video into an 848x480 video, Everything goes fin until I reach 99.50% finished then the encoding just quits and it pops out an error. I have never encountered and error like this and I've spent the past 3-4 hours trying to fix it with no luck. I'm at my wit's end. :mad: Can someone please tell me what's going on and how to fix it? Are there any mini pc's with PCI or PCI-e feature?

Hi. Ok, eventually, I had to ask the question. So here I am asking.

Are there any mini-pc's, or else small (tiny) desktops that:

have pci and/or pci-e ports for inserting capture cards to?
or, could have pci/pci-e through some dongle wire or flat cable?
or else, as small (fanless?) desktop with pci/pci-e prefereably 2 of each.

I would like to have one w/out fans and ups power if possible. This is to serve as an analog-capture-only system.

My reasons are for ruling out any line noise, which in my case, has been related to fans and EMI for many years. I am still researching alternatives for my analog captures. So far, the only best way is through usb dongles, but I am not satisfied with the one's have tested and want to try going back to old PCI/PCI-e way if possible, and make a final determination which is best.

Wireshark + Livestreamer: Have URL and auth token but cannot play it

Please Help.

I basically have the information in the form of

livestreamer --http-header "hdntl=exp=...................." hls://"http://..........................ts" best

However, livestreamer will not play the file. I have also tried "hlsvariant" without success.

I will always get:

[cli][info] Opening stream: live (hls)
[cli][error] Could not open stream: Missing #EXTM3U header

The file is a "ts" file extension. Could anyone shed any light on this? I have no idea why it isn't working.

Issues with commercial John Denver video from the 70's

Just got a 5-disc DVD collection of John Denver from the 70's - "Around The World Live". There's artifacting of many, many vertical lines - like hundreds across the width of the image. Is this the result of a conversion issue from whatever the original tape format was?

The packaging gives the impression they meant to give this the royal treatment - I'm surprised the video has this glaring issue.

MKV Tag Editor commands

I am having trouble with removing tags from MKV files. I can't figure out how to remove a comment/description tag with mkvpropedit, and Windows 10 says file access denied, that I need permission to edit the file, even though I am an administrator.

I found this other thread really helpful and I was able to remove the field called "Title" in Windows 10, aka "Movie name" in MediaInfo, using mkvpropedit

I just changed the line of the batch script to put a blank string for the title/name

But the "Comments" field in Windows 10, aka "Description" in MediaInfo, has been difficult for me to figure out how to remove.

I used the MKVToolNix mkvinfo-gui.exe to show all the elements, and I found the tag I'd like to remove in certain location with the name: DESCRIPTION

the elements listed were
  • EBML head
  • Segment
  • Seek head
  • Segment information
  • EbmlVoid
  • Segment tracks
  • Tags
  • Tag
  • Targets
  • (note: nothing is listed under targets, no track UID or anything)
  • Simple
  • Name: DESCRIPTION
  • String: <this is the string I want to get rid of, or the whole tag>

  • Cues
but I don't know how to edit or remove that tag. The mkvpropedit commands are not clear to me on how to do this. This particular tag/field does not show up in the MKVToolNix GUI header editor section either

Handbrake rotate video?!

Okay, I'm going nuts.. I've been trying for the past hour to rotate a video in Handbrake 1.0.3, with no luck.
I want to rotate my video 90 degree clockwise, so from what I can read, ", --rotate=4" in extra options should work (without the " ").

But it doesn't.. I've tried many other variations of that command, but absolutely nothing happening. Nada.

What am I missing?

Please, no more discussion of my choice of test pattern colors. Thank you.

The table below shows the results of my testing of the color reproduction of five video players on videos encoded to bt.601 and bt.709.
Code:

The operating system is Windows 10. Below are the command lines used to encode the test pattern bmp file to mp4 using ffmpeg.

ffmpeg -y -loop 1 -i test_pattern601.bmp -t 10 -vf scale=out_color_matrix=bt601 test_pattern601.mp4

ffmpeg -y -loop 1 -i test_pattern709.bmp -t 10 -vf scale=out_color_matrix=bt709 test_pattern709.mp4

"OK" means the colors are reproduced with digital values +/- 2 of the original values. "No" means the colors are reproduced with digital values exceeding +/- 2 of the original values.

I am told by one of the Firefox programmers that Firefox uses GPU/hardware color decoding.

Rate My VHS Capture and Setup

Capture Video

My setup is a..
VCR: Panasonic PV-S7670 SVHS
Capture Device: Diamond VC500 (using S-Video)
Capture Software: AmaRecTV
Capture Codec: PICVideo MJPEG 3.0

Yes, I use Elmo for my test captures whenever I am trying something new. I find that the best because of all of the colors. I am still pretty new to this and would like to contiunously get better. Please let me know how I can make my captures better. I don't like the blurriness of the bottom. How do I remove something like that?
