Handbrake Bluray rip time

$

Is there anyone here who uses Handbrake to rip Bluray movies, using the Super HQ 1080p30 preset? If so, what CPU are you using, and how how long does it take you to rip a Bluray in Handbrake? I'm particularly interested in the results from people with Skylake or Kaby Lake processors (particularly, the 6600k and 6700k).

On an old 2500k, it takes something like 10 hours, plus a couple hours to rip extras, which is crazy long. I'm wondering how much upgrading to a modern CPU will reduce my rip time.

superior authoring software?

I have tried DVDstyler, Cyberlink's Power Producer, and DVD Architect....

ALL seem to have the same video authoring quality. Not horrible if you are using an upscaling DVD player but nothing compared to off the shelf DVD's from the store or red box.

Does anyone know of superior authoring software?

Re-encoding Bluray content with x265 10bit

The title's already giving away what I want to achieve. Currently I use MeGUI to create AviSynth scripts: (a) using DirectShowsource, or (b) after indexing the video with DGindexNV. For re-encoding I use Simple x264/x265 encoder with the x265_x64 encoder.

Which is the better way to serve the frames to the encoder, (a) or (b)? Or something completely different? I'd like to avoid the "Handbrake effect" with 8bit pipelining.

Does it something to worry about?

PS: I did not like the program at all. Too many steps to deal with the program. See the video above. We have other youtube-dl's GUIs that can do it more without too many steps.

Best regards.

Does Exist Videos Sites Than Can't be Recorded or Downloaded?

$

Hi, dear all.

I found Replay-Video-Capture and tubedigger as a good programs to get and/or record videos from sites.

But does exist some sites that are impossible to record / grab any videos / audio / other elements from it? Can you point some of them if you know?

Some kind of sites that no program or even any hardware device ( like: Elgato capture hardware ) can't deal with, like recording or grabbing videos?

I considering to test tubedigger, but I'm afraid that some sites this program can't handle.

Thanks.

Best regards.

ffmpeg warning: timestamps are unset in a packet for stream 1

Hi c*t,

really I have use this commandline to "encode" in vcodec copy a series of files:

Code:

ffmpeg64bitmar2017.exe -threads 12 -y -f concat -safe 0 -i concatList.txt -filter_complex "[0:1] [0:2] amerge" -vcodec copy -c:a pcm_s24le -aspect 16:9 concatHD.mov
where concatList.TXT is:

Code:

file 'V:\TeatroRomano\video\C0001.MXF'
file 'V:\TeatroRomano\video\C0002.MXF'
file 'V:\TeatroRomano\video\C0003.MXF'
file 'V:\TeatroRomano\video\C0004.MXF'
file 'V:\TeatroRomano\video\C0005.MXF'

... ...

file 'V:\TeatroRomano\video\C0155.MXF'

this .MXF files are all identical for resolution, codec, fps ecc... They are shooted with the same camera.

The output is ok but there is a warning "timestamps are unset in a packet for stream 1 ... "

and during encoding the speed start from 10X and progressively it decreases up to 3X. Is there a way to resolve the speed problem and how means the warning? thanks

Aspect Ratio issues on Head Unit

$

I'm hoping some folks can assist. As with my previous post I attempted to search for answers on here but couldn't find my exact nor a comparable solution.

I have a Pioneer AVH-4200NEX DVD Head unit that can play videos off of an SD card. According to the manual the unit can only play...

Compatible Video Files: AVI, ASF, FLV, F4V, MP4, MKV, MOV, WMV, VOB, 3GP
Max Resolution: 720 x 480
Max Frame Rate: 30 fps
Max File Size: 4GB

Using Handbrake (suggested by folks on another thread) I have encoded a few movies, but when played on the deck the aspect ratio is off. What "appears" to happen is no matter what aspect ratio or resolution is used the deck squashes the image to 4:3, then stretches it again to fit the width of the screen. There are three option for screen adjustments, source (4:3), zoom (zoomed vertical and horizontal to fit the screen) and Full (stretch horizontally to fit screen).

I know details are usually asked for so here is what I have if I understand the important information correctly.

The display is 800x600 "Motorized 6.95" Clear Resistive LCD Touchscreen: The Pioneer AVH-4200NEX features a 6.95" clear resistive LCD touchscreen with a display resolution of 800 x 480 (RGB), for a total of 1,152,000 pixels."

Original video size: 1920x808 MKV, 23 frames/second according to the details.
Output width target is 720.
I've attempted many different setting including:
-I've used the 480p preset in Handbrake,
-selected "none" under Anamorphic,
-selected "loose" and left it as 720
-selected "loose" and adjust width to 800
-selected "none" and "kept aspect ratio"
-selected "none" and custom cropping of 0 on all 4 sides

I figured I need to hard code the black bars into the video and then just zoom on the deck to fill the screen, but no matter what I try handbrake removes the black bars and the deck squashes to 4:3.

Do I need to find a way stretch my output on the vertical so when it gets squashed its returns it to the proper "feel." I'm a bit at a loss and hope I've provided enough information.

NOTE: There are no settings in the deck to adjust from 4:3 to 16:9. There is for DVDs but not sure the SD card videos. There is not adjustments I can make in the setting of the deck/head unit.

This is the link to the head unit on crutchfield if anyone is interested. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_1304200NEX/Pioneer-AVH-4200NEX.html?tp=20217&awcp=1t1&aw...g&awug=9001828

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

"10-bit newbie" encoder questions

$

Hello, a few "10-bit newbie" encoder questions and I'm hoping for some pointers.

Now I have a cheapie 4k hdr TV (a lightning strike nearby injured a neighbour and killed my previous TV), I would like to start experimenting with high bit depth encoding (10 bit ?) from the commandline however I have a few questions before I can start. I've googled but couldn't find easy answers from the tonnes of hits.

I have access to 64bit ffmpeg, x264.exe and x265.exe built with high bit depth enabled (per rdp's ffmpeg cross-compiler build suite) and an nvidia 750Ti (maxwell?) card which I suspect doesn't do 10 bit hardware encoding; next year I hope for a 1050Ti or similar and maybe a cheapie ryzen 1800x :)

I currently use this for standard h.264 encoding of PAL (generally mpeg2) sources
Code:

"C:\SOFTWARE\Vapoursynth-x64\VSPipe.exe" --y4m ".\z.vpy" - | "C:\x64_high_bitdepth\ffmpeg.exe" -threads 0 -i pipe: -threads 0 -an -threads 0 -map_metadata -1 -sws_flags lanczos+accurate_rnd+full_chroma_int+full_chroma_inp -filter:v setdar=dar=16/9 -c:v h264_nvenc -preset hq -bf 2 -g 50 -refs 3 -rc:v constqp -global_quality 18 -rc-lookahead 32 -profile:v high -level 4.1 -pixel_format yuv420p  -threads 0 -movflags +faststart -y ".\z-temp-h264.MP4"
So,

1. Can vspipe deliver high bit depths from vapoursynth scripts and if so, is that vspipe commandline correct ?
This http://www.vapoursynth.com/doc/gettingstarted.html#output-with-vspipe doesn't really say.

2. What ffmpeg settings would I use for high bit depth encoding in ffmpeg for h.264 (and h.265) ? This post https://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3729#p10866 suggests that nvenc in ffmpeg can't do it :( "... there needs to be a few additions to unlock 10 bit encoding in NVENC HEVC. At the moment it's clear that ffmpeg only implements the Main profile of NVENC HEVC, and not the Main 10."
Maybe "-pix_fmt yuv420p10" ? ... except for this https://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3729#p11035 "As of yesterday, my 10-bit NVENC encoding patches are in the official FFmpeg however they rejected the YUV420P10 part of it because it involved some conversion code which needs to be in a different place to where I put it and I don't have the time to do that at the moment. So if you plan to use later versions of FFmpeg in future then you will only be able to encode YUVP010 or YUV444P16 10-bit input formats".

If that's the case (no to ffmpeg with nvenc) then I suppose equivalent non-NVENC ffmpeg, x264 and x265 comnmandlines would be needed instead ... suggestions welcomed where to look to get me started with equivalents to my usual settings.

3. I am also tempted to experiment with NVEencC which seems as if it can accept .vpy vapoursynth scripts as native input (?) ... provided the 750Ti can do nvenc 10 bit hardware encoding.

Suggestions or a link to examples to start would be appreciated.

Want an HDMI timer recording device for Time Warner Cable

I have basic Time Warner Cable with a basic box. TWC wants to charge me $30 a month extra for a dvr. I only want to record one show weekly and I am looking for a device that I can attach to my HDMI output of my TWC box and digitally record a show at a set time. So far the only option that appears to work is EzRecorder 310 by AverMedia but it has no storage capacity, all external and is well over $100. I am also learning that I may need to by an HDMI splitter??? to decode the HDMI or it will remain scrambled which is confusing to me because its the same signal that goes to the TV out of the TWC box and it handles it. Just looking for a little guidance to a cheap little device to record from a basic cable box on a weekly basis. Thanks in advance.

ffmpeg audio delay - how to get the video to start before the audio ?

$

for testing the effect I took a synch avi(xvid,mp3) file and remuxed it using:
1.
Code:

ffmpeg -y -itsoffset 00:00:10.000 -i "test.avi" -i "test.mp3" -vcodec copy -acodec copy -map 0:0 -map 1:0 -vtag XVID -aspect 181818:100000 -r 25 -f avi "test1.avi"
-> Audio starts 10sec before video (this is like I expected)
2.
Code:

ffmpeg -y -i "test.avi"  -itsoffset -00:00:10.000 -i "test.mp3" -vcodec copy -acodec copy -map 0:0 -map 1:0 -vtag XVID -aspect 181818:100000 -r 25 -f avi "test3.avi"
-> Audio starts 10sec before video (this is like I expected)
3.
Code:

ffmpeg -y -itsoffset -00:00:10.000 -i "test.avi" -i "test.mp3" -vcodec copy -acodec copy -map 0:0 -map 1:0 -vtag XVID -aspect 181818:100000 -r 25 -f avi "test2.avi"
-> Audio and video start at the same time (I expected that the video would start before the audio)
4.
Code:

ffmpeg -y -i "test.avi"  -itsoffset 00:00:10.000 -i "test.mp3" -vcodec copy -acodec copy -map 0:0 -map 1:0 -vtag XVID -aspect 181818:100000 -r 25 -f avi "test4.avi"
-> Audio and video start at the same time (I expected that the video would start before the audio)

=> How to handle negative audio delays with ffmpeg?

Also all of these calls give me:
Quote:

[avi @ 000001f1b4b8e280] Timestamps are unset in a packet for stream 0. This is deprecated and will stop working in the future. Fix your code to set the timestamps properly
=> How to do it properly to avoid this warning and be save for the future?

Thanks.

What's the best software to play all video file types?

Hello all, I want to get into videos, just for my personal playback enjoyment so I want to load a folder of videos located on my HDD and have that automatically shuffle. Here's what I am seeking, to have all videos played back at a constant volume so I won't have to frequently go adjusting volume on my rig for different videos. I have videos in different formats so would be great if any video file type could be played without having to first convert every file to the same type. Can you guys recommend the best software which can do all of the above please?

I had tried VLC some years back, their volume normalizer wasn't effective but some of the video's audio might have made it sound like that. Earlier today I had tested with Media Monkey but one file type I think is .flv and MM would not play it.

Hello

Ive looked everywhere and can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

I am taking the LOTR extended edition blu rays and combining disc 1 and disc 2 (using the method here).

I open the program and add the first half of "fellowship".

I then click on that file and select "append files" and select the second half of fellowship

I change the output to "fellowship full".

However, when I select "start multiplexing" I get an error stating "Files cannot be appended to themselves".

Am I doing something wrong? Ive tried renaming all the files but I keep getting that error.

Any help would be grand.
