I am using Sony Bravia LED TV model KLD-40EX650. Whenever I try to play movie through USB drive converted from MKV to MP4, after plying for 30 minutes, I get error "Playback is not avilable".
I have tried several encoders & converters provided by Video Help to convert mkv to mp4 or m2ts but any without success.

When I encode MKV to MP4 by using MKVExtractGUI, MKVToolnix & My MP4Box always there is audio delay which I don"t no how to remove. Can somebody help me to solve this problem.

Mini DV transfer using Thunderbolt 3

Haven't been able to find if this is possible so going to be trying this due to lack of both a desktop PC to install a firewire card in and no computers with either a Thunderbolt 1/2 or firewire port. I have all the cables / adapters on order and should be here for this weekend to test it out. The daisy chain of cables / adapters consist of Apple Thunderbolt 3 -> Thunderbolt 2 adapter, Apple Thunderbolt 2 -> Firewire 800 adapter, then a firewire cable that goes from 9-pin -> 4-pin to plug into my camcorder.

For those not familiar Thunderbolt 3 shares the same port as USB 3.1 if the computer has the underlying hardware for thunderbolt compatibility.

Has anyone else tried this with either a success or failure?

Diamond VC500 + VirtualDub stopped working after Win 10 update

I have had VC500 and VirtualDub setup perfectly - and I had no problem whatsoever until a Win 10 update yesterday. Now all I get is a blue/green screen when I select the video device. I tried to select "Preview" instead of "Overlay", which worked if I select the built-in laptop camera as the device. I have tried reinstalling the driver and EzGrabber to no avail. Capture screen is blue or black in EzGrabber too. I am fairly certain this was due to the update, as the day before update VirtualDub worked perfectly. I really don't know which component of the update caused this problem- has anyone encountered the same issue.

Are discs set to PAL and NTSC

Hi there.

I'm trying to burn a DVD for my friends in the U.S.A (I'm in England), so I want it to be in NTSC format. The video footage is actually NTSC at source, so I don't think there is a problem there. However, I wonder if the problem could be that I'm using a disc bought in England, set to PAL, which doesn't work with the NTSC iso file. Does it work like that - are blank DVD discs set to PAL or NTSC depending on which country you buy them, or are discs not PAL or NTSC specific until you write on them?

FYI, I managed to burn the same videos onto disc when I had it set to write as PAL, so I think that rules out the actual content being the problem.

Any help people can be with this will be much appreciated.

I'll paste the error message below.

Thanks.

The video is on USB HDD and can't be watched on a TV but can be played on a computer. TV plays HD (1920x1080) videos in MP4 container without any problem.

It seems videographer has messed up.

Please suggest ways to make it watchable on TV without loss in quality.

Thanks.

Is this a good dvd-recorder for the price of around 25dollars? Does this recorder have the option like the Pioneer 540-H when you mark a recorded Tv-program then it plays a little preview of the video?

MTS with subs to FORMAT ? to play on DVD with subs

$

Hello Experts
I have .mts video files recorded from TV onto HDD
For one movie this can be from 10 to 25 small files of .mts.
Subtitles are also recorded in these files.
I want to play these movies directly from the HDD onto my hdtv using DVD player.
They will play as .mts but no subtitles can be viewed (they do play in VLC and Potplayer with subtitles displayed)
Using Any Video Converter or ConvertXto video what would be the best lossless settings and format to use to convert files to play on DVD with the subtitles still present. ??
Also with all my attempts so far the resulting video does not fill my TV screen (black bars all around) as it does when played in the original mts files.
I can get almost the desired result using handbrake but it is slow working with these multiple files and the subtitles have to be hard coded (burned in)

Any suggestions or help from you guys will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Downloading an embedded Ustream (unseekable) livestream

I'm trying to download a livestream located @ http://sportscanada.tv/asaa/bball-1a-girls-live

It is behind a paywall that is easy to bypass (inspect element, delete "tp-overlay")

I have found this URL
https://www.ustream.tv/embed/22802513
and tried downloading with livestreamer-didn't work. Went to the URL directly and got the error "The owner has made this stream unavailable at this time", even though emebedd in the page it works fine, so I assume that the page sends some kind of data to show that it is emebedded.

I also found this one:
https://sjc-ucdn03-ntt-tcdn.ustream.tv/sjc/sjc-uhs-omega05/live/22802513/1489801726570/plain/uhs/1

and I have no idea where to start with this one :(

If I open Dev tools in chrome it shows a bunch of chunks coming from the last url above. They are in .m4v & .mp4 format.

Any help would be nice!

Webm/MKV file crashes on Machete edit-save and makes mess in Avidemux

$

I have a Webm file that plays fine in VLC and other players, but when I try to edit it with Machete, the program almost always crashes when I try to save the edit. It gets to a certain point in the save and then won’t go further, so I guess there are glitches in the file that prevent it from saving.

The first time I opened it in Machete, the program changed it to MKV and did save it, but I hadn’t done any edits.

When I try to edit the file in Avidemux, as either Webm or MKV, using Copy Video and Audio, Avidemux saves it but the result is terrible, the image is just a mass of pulsing pixelation throughout the video. I don’t know why.

This is a VP8 file in the Webm or MKV container.

I have also tried meteorite, orca, mkvtoolnix and some other programs I found that claim to fix mkv videos. They didn’t solve the problem.

Would converting this file to some other format, or putting it in an MP4 container, solve the problem and allow me to edit it? But I can’t find any info that says that MP4 container is compatible with VP8. I’d like to convert it without any quality loss or with imperceptible quality loss.

Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

how do I use a loudness meter to set peak level to -12dB before capturing

$

I am using CyberLink PowerDirector 11 to capture audio and video from a usb capture card. PowerDirector 11 doesn't have a loudness meter, so I use Orban Loudness Meter 2.8.8 in order to ensure a proper volume level before capturing. The content I want to capture contains mostly speech/dialogue.

Many people suggest that the recommended level for dialogue is -12dB to -15dB. I don't know if I understand this correctly, but I assume this means that I should increase the volume until the loudness meter doesn't exceed -12dB. And in case I increased the volume too much and the loudness meter goes to -10dB, then I should lower the volume a bit, until the loudness meter goes to -12dB but not further than -12dB.

The problem is that I don't know which meter to use in Orban Loudness Meter, because in Orban Loudness Meter there are 6 meters:
1. CBS
2. ITU BS.1770 Momentary
3. ITU BS.1770 Short Term & Integrated
4. VU
5. PPM
6. Reconstructed Peak

Which of these 6 meters should I look at when I check if level exceeds -12dB or not? It's confusing because when the "Reconstructed Peak" meter shows -9dBFS, the "VU" meter shows -19dBFS, and I don't know which one to use.

Issing re-joining mkv files split using mkvtoolnix

$

Hello

I used eac3to on an mpls file (ripped blu-ray disc) to produce video, audio, and subtitle streams (H264, DTSMA, PGS formats). I then fed these raw files into mkvtoolnix GUI to remux into an MKV file, but also inserted timecodes into the "splitting" field under the "output" tab. My intention was to split in order to cut out the parts of the film I didn't want by simply deleting the relevant MKV files and re-merging the remaining MKVs using mkvtoolnix again.

Unfortunately I've noticed an issue with the resulting final product. At the points in the film where the mkv files were stitched together, the audio continues to play seamlessly but the video will pause for a few seconds before skipping ahead. The video and audio then remain in sync.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Thanks

Odai.

Video capturing old VHS tapes with lossless format

I'm not sure if this the correct site to post this...but not sure where else to post it or a more appropriate forum.
I am trying to digitize my old VHS tapes of our family. I am using a VC500 to do the capturing and found out about VirtualDub (if there is something newer/better please let me know) as the video capture software. I am trying to encode the video into a lossless format so I am using x264vfw which has a "Single pass- lossless" option. Everything seems to be working but on the output file I can't tell if it is recorded "lossless". Is there a way to validate that it is indeed recording it in the lossless format? I see no reference about it being recorded as "lossless". I only see H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (H264) http://imgur.com/a/jF4FM.

Hey all, like to title says, I'm looking for editing (?) software that will allow me to zoom in, slow down, etc between 2 points of an mpg file? I know there are many editors I'm just hoping someone might have some knowledge so I don't have to go through trial and error with all the different editors.

I have ~1100 files totaling approximately 120 GB of HD dashcam footage I'd like to make into a five minute timelapse or so. I want to use Avidemux to automate this and know what I need to do for each video and have saved that into a project file, but unfortunately every time I try the example script from the AVI Demux page or another one I found on the forums here it causes the app to crash if I try to evaluate the script or run the script project. I just need to change the FPS, resample, change again, and resample again, both times reencoding to mpeg4 ffdshow or xvid codecs.

Here's one of the scripts I've been trying to use for one of the passes (changing FPS, or resampling)

//AD <-

var sep = "\\";
var fileExt;
var pickedExt;
var dstPath;

var filesDone = 0;

be ignored but the file extension will be used! \r\n\r\ne.g. If you want to process AVIs, be sure to pick any .avi

file!");

//pop up a dialog asking for a source file. We will remove the file name leaving just the dir
srcDir = fileReadSelect();

//run the extReg regex designed to pull out just the extension of this file
pickedExt = srcDir.replace(extReg, "$1").toLowerCase();

displayInfo(pickedExt + "Pick the destination directory and enter a random filename. Filename will be ignored");

//pop up a dialog asking for a destination file. We will remove the file name leaving just the dir
dstDir = fileWriteSelect();

//extract just the path part of each picked file
