(MPV) Help with sending text to Windows clipboard (cmd.exe and clip)

$

I'm using the MPV video player and I put in a line of code in the config file to define a hotkey that sends the currently showing subtitle text to Windows clipboard:

Ctrl+x run "cmd.exe" "/d" "/c" "echo ${sub-text}|clip"

NOTE: ${sub-text} is the current subtitle text property in MPV video player.

While watching a video I can press Ctrl+x to send the current subtitle to clipboard but the problem is it only works for English (ansi). For Japanese subtitles, only a series of question marks are copied to clipboard, even though the player displays the Japanese characters correctly.

Anything I need to change so that the properly encoded text can be sent to clipboard?

(System:Windows 7)

Thanks!!

Looking for perfect recipe for car unit (Pioneer AVH-X2800BS)

Hi guys!

We recently changed the entertainment system in the minivan (from stock Dodge system to a Pioneer AVH-X2800BS) and it opened the possibility of having movies on a USB stick : no more DVDs to manage!!

But little that I know, finding the secret sauce was not easy! (I have to admit I wasted way too much time with other converter software that were total crap. Even paid ones were junk! Praise Handbrake!!)

Now, on paper, the device supports a wide variety of containers (avi, mp4, 3gp, mkv and mov) and has some restrictions for each (see here for the scarce details).

Using Handbrake, I've only been able to use MKV as container. Whatever I put in a MP4 the radio won't read it. And since HB doesn't do the others, well, I use MKV.

So far I haven't had been able to use MP3 as audio. AAC works but it's bad. It's choppy at moment and terrible at others. AC-3 (192 kb/s) is what I use now and it's all good.

Video has been more problematic. Blindly fiddling with the controls, I managed to find an acceptable configuration but it's not yet perfect. Basically some parts of the movie really are choppy/blocky. Not sure what the exact technical term is, see here for an example.

This file was converted using Handbrake and the settings listed in line 16 (ID 1b-4) of this document. The conversion log is also provided in the spreadsheet.

But the video itself is problematic. It's not that the radio is not powerful enough to decode : reading the file in VLC yields the same results.
So basically I have to choose between glitchy video (1b) or nicer (1.2) but the radio isn't capable of decoding...

Some guys had more luck using other converters. I tried DIVX Converter and Total video converter but hated the GUI and didn't felt like I could really control what was going on. I really want to stick to Handbrake as I feel it's the best out there but I might be wrong. Thoughts?

Regarding all the formats that don't work (and should), I contacted Pionner and besides the proverbial RTFM, all I got from them is
Quote:

Ideal frame rate [SIC] for this resolution is going to be 400-1000 kbps.
Thanks, drone, very helpful. I wrote back but never heard from them.

Adjusting HENC priority

Is there any way to make it so that the default priority is always set to highest? My computer has this issue where HENC gradually slows down with each pass, and the longer I leave my computer on the higher the chance it will be all "locked up" when I come back to it. I would NOT had to have just restarted a 6-hour job that was almost done if it weren't for the fact that I have to set the priority manually on each pass

Do these video heads sound ok?

Last year i put a bad tape in my Panasonic NV-HS860 VCR, and it stopped playing. So put another video in and the picture had all the comet tails, which is typical of dirty heads. So i finally got round to cleaning the heads over the weekend using foam q-tips and 99.9% isopropyl alcohol. When manually turning the drum i could feel the heads snagging a little when it was run against the q-tip.. don't know if i didn't wet it enough. But put another tape in and everything plays fine, picture looks great. Just when it's rewind/fast-forwarding it doesn't sound right to me. I hope none of the tape heads have been snagged out of place and is scratching/damaging the tapes?

Anyway i've audio recorded a whole tape cycle (FF then Rewind) by lifting up the VCR slot to hear what's going on inside. Does it sound fine?

Virtualdub crashing when outputting very large files

$

Hi all

I've hit a weird problem in Virtualdub when dealing with very large files. The input files aren't particularly big - it's the process of outputting that seems to go wrong. I originally had this problem when trying to output a 1.5hr HD file using HuffyUV. It seems that somewhere between 300-400GB it can't handle any more, and crashes. I have included a screengrab of the image below.
I seemed to get success by using the frameserver and AVFS (as my eventual target was to convert to mp4 in handbrake) and that seemed to work for that file.

However my latest project is having the same crashing issue, even though I'm serving using AVFS. The virtual file size in the "Volumes" folder I around 742gb. Virtualdub crashes at around 47% conversion complete, which again is in the 300-400gb range.

Is there a known issue with virtualdub in these situations, or is it something with my set up?

How Can One Video Layer Track And Follow Another Layer?

$

Hi all,

Hoping you can help me with the following...

I'm working on a project where I'm attempting to replace faces in videos with another face. I'm having some limited success doing this in Quicktime and OpenShot, but am hoping to find software more efficient and powerful for this purpose.

As example, it would be great if I could identify points on the original face (say, ears and chin) and then match those points up to the same features on the replacement face. Then the replacement face track would follow the original face as it moved in the video. I hope that makes sense.

Questions are:

1) Do you know of Mac software that can do some version of what I've described above?

2) If not, do you have any suggestions of how I might further research this?

Many thanks!

Panasonic DMP-BDT460 does not read discs

Hello,

I just realised today that my blue ray reader Panasonic DMP-BDT460 does not recognise any disc I insert into it. It does not even try to read any disk and then fail, it's just stopped seeing any disk inside. I insert a disc and immediately it reports "No Disc". It is not an old blue ray player, We bough it about 3 years ago.

Any idea what could go wrong? Perhaps there is an easy solution for that. I am asking just in case there might be. I am really disappointed with Panasonic because it cost us quite a bit and this is not no label device.

Thanks.

Hello guys,

I'm helping a friend who was robbed. In the video can be seen the car entering the parking zone. As you can see the car shows it's plate with the front and the back but I think that the resolution and the light are too bad to recognise something.

I don't think that is possible to get the license plate, but maybe someone of you can do something.

Tell me what you think.

I couldn't find anything better sry, these are captures for the video:

Trying to join .mts files

Got some files a buddy filmed on his Panasonic camcorder. They are the original .mts files from his camcorder, but I can't figure out how to join them into one file.

I tried tsmuxer, but if I try joining a few or all of them together, something weird happens and the file is only 2:47 long.

Is there a good program that will solve my problem? I don't need anything fancy - just a simple joined file.

Thanks for any advice out there.

Problem with license plates on video - things stolen from car

Hello,

I'm new on this forums and my first thread is about getting help from you :( two guys checked my car while driving scooter/moped. I have camera in cam that they missed and it recorded them. Unfortunately I was not able to read license plates from their scooter. Could you please help me with this, maybe you can do more than me. Police told me that yeah thanks for video but we can't read plates from it. They will try to check vechicle databases but they think that they will not be able to find anything. Maybe when I will give them plates they will start to do anything... So - I've uploaded uncut raw video from my car cam. It's here on my onedrive in mov format:

https://1drv.ms/v/s!AsgefLbw5O0_gXGPf3ndMRQIQu7X

There are two guys on scooter that are checking my car. Size of plates is 140×114 millimeters. I think that letters in upper row are KWI but unfortunately in lower row I could'nt read them. So format of them is:

XYZ - upper row only letters
X1Y2 - lower row can contain letters and numbers

So it could be for example if I'm not wrong about KWI:

KWI
X1Y2

If you can help I would be very happy. Maybe you have more skills than me and digital zoom on VLC player :( thanks!

Best Regards,
Radek from Poland

Hi Folks,
I have more than 30 DVDs in the last 23 years. Now I wish to dechipher them one by one and extracting the video and audio . Then they wiil be placed on a site presenting a gallery. The gallery will be for a limited number of people, who will access the video clips, slideshows and music using PCs, MACs, Pads, smart phones, .... This project causes problems such as what should be the file codec be so that it is playable on all these devics? Is it worth converting the files? Does it take less time to input new CODECS to take it accessible on most devices? Can storing the ISO image of the DVD help? There is of course internet streaming issue? Can the DVD menu structure be implemented as the disk structure? Are there any tools for all this. My configuration is PC Windows 7, Power Director, Sony Vegas 13 platinum, , Virtual Dub, TMPGenc and any help is welcome.
