Need Help With The Proper Way To Download MP2T Chunk Files Using VDH

$

It's August, 2017. A website I was downloading movies from in .MP4 files with Video Download Helper as an addon in Firefox is now starting to stream in .MP2T chunk files and I can't capture and download these files.

Can someone help me with the correct method of using VDH to download and convert .MP2T files that stream in dozens of smaller chunk files?

I managed to do it once and I captured a beautiful .M2TS file from the beginning of the video to the end. But I did it by crazily trying every option and every combination of options without documenting the procedure because I didn't think it was possible to do anyway.

So when I looked at my output folder and saw that I HAD SUCCEEDED, I was bummed because I can't remember the steps I took to get my perfect .M2TS file.

I also captured from start to finish a .AVI file but the quality sucked. I'm sure I used the same procedure with just a different output option. I would be happy just to get a nice clean .MP4 output file.

NOTE: EminemMCFC has a post on here "How To Download A MP2T Stream" and I love how detailed it is and so much appreciate the time he took to post it. But that was in Feb, 2015 and here in August of 2017, I know there's a way to do this much easier with Video Download Helper because I DID IT. I just can't remember HOW I did it.

Question about DVB-S FTA receivers

I notice all newer FTA (free to air) satellite recievers are designed for DVB-S2 not DVB-S. DVB-S2 I believe is a newer standard, but what about recieving signals from satellites that still use the older DVB-S standard. Is DVB-S2 backward compatible? That is, is the DVB-S2 standard designed so that any device that can receive a DVB-S2 signal can also receive a DVB-S signal (for older satellites that still use DVB-S)? Or are DVB-S2 receivers incompatible with DVB-S signals, so that I would need to get an older FTA reciever (such as a used one from eBay) that is designed for DVB-S reception (or else a multi-system receiver that can handle both DVB-S and DVB-S2), in order to receive a DVB-S signal?

HTML5 and Windows XP

I'm used to NOT being able to watch some YouTube videos(on Firefox) with XP. I normally just wait several hours
until YouTube generates something I can watch later.....IF that is what is really happening. Either way
if I wait a while I can eventually watch the video.
I've been sending the YouTube link to my iPhone via the Messenger website(Messenger.com) via Firefox if I REALLY
want to watch the video right now....then watch it on my iPhone obviously.
Just this morning I did exactly that....placed the YouTube link in Messenger.com and sent it on it's way. But this time for
sh|ts and giggles I pressed PLAY in the video preview that showed up in Messenger.com.......and the video played.
Still on XP, still in Firefox.
How messed up is that?

Sony SL-C7UB Betamax player repairs

Hi everyone, I've got a Sony SL-C7UB deck and I've been looking around for some advice on getting a clear-ish picture out of it.

Background- I'm a computer repair shop and out of professional curiosity, I agreed to attempt head cleaning on this Betamax player for an aged gentleman looking to recover a load of family videos he has on Beta. The stakes are fairly low on this, I promised nothing and made him aware that this wasn't my area of expertise.

Here's an example of what I'm dealing with:

Capture setup: Betamax AV out -> AV CVBS to HDMI upscaler -> Elgato Game Capture HD -> Open Broadcaster

I've read about replacing some of the caps and ICs in the device, and I'm experienced with soldering and component-level diagnostics - but I don't know where to start with this.

I have already attempted to clean the heads with isopropyl, I dampened a paper towel with IPA, held it against the head and manually rotated the drum being careful not to move up and down. There was no visible difference.

Do you guys think this can be salvaged?
Thanks for your time!

Looking for Media Player: 4k - 10bit - DTS-HD MA decoding

I was a heartbeat away from buying a HiMedia Q10 Pro which is everything that I'm looking for in a media player, except for one small pitfall: it doesn't actually decode any of the HD audio formats (except for downmixing it to 2 channels, lol). My receiver does not decode DTS-HD MA or Dolby TrueHD and I do not wish to replace it, so the entire reason for buying a media player is to separate the amplifying from the decoding.

So back to the drawing board it is. I would appreciate your input on finding my ultimate media player, bearing in mind that, if it wasn't for the problem mentioned, the HiMedia Q10 Pro would have been it.

Important requirements are:
- Playback of 4k, h.265, 10bit HDR, mkv
- DECODES (not passthrough) at least multichannel DTS-HD MA, TrueHD so that it passes 7.1 pcm to the receiver via HDMI
- A cool display like the one on the Q10 Pro would be nice :)

Unlocking the Regions for Philip’s 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Player BDP7501/F7

Hi all. I have a Philips 4K Bluray player, model number BDP7501/F7. I recently purchased the first three seasons of BBC Sherlock on Blu-ray, but as it turns out, it’s in Italian. English is also listed as a language on it, so I won’t have a problem watching it because of that, but when I put the disc in my player I get a page saying “This disc will not play due to the region code setting of the player”. The player is region one. Does anyone know of a way to unlock the regions on this player? The codes I’ve found for older models don’t work, and I haven’t been able to find anything for this specific model yet.

How to extract MKV streams to be compatible with TMPGENC?

Hello, Im trying to extract the video stream from a mkv file so I can use it directly with TMPGEnc so I dont loose that much quality when converting it. Is there a way to do it or the only way is to re compress it before compressing it again with TMPGEnc?

Bad quality while transferring from DV cam til my computer

I get good quality watching on my tv or through my Sony RDR-Hx710. I got a Panasonic nv-gs 550. As living in Europe I use the PAL system.

I use this card http://www.ebay.com/itm/3fach-Firewire-PCI-Express-Karte-c813-/310351192316?hash=item4...wAAOSwjKFZWKon
Brand new cable 4 pin to 6 pin.

I used Avcutty, Dvdate, WinDV and some more.

I get good sound byt i got rough pixels not as smooth as playback on other units. Also diagonal edges on objects expands and are shown as a line of pixels in more fast moment.

Haven't found any settings to solve the problem. I guess I need the right program, recoding settings och change the outcome of the file. (I read about the encoding, that I can't encode while capturing.) My goal is to be able to watch the movies with VLC for example.

Many thanks in advance! Sorry if I ask a question with an answer in the forum. Have a deadline and tried to find an answer.

Software to trim AVCHD MP4 files from a Panasonic Panasonic DMC-TZ70

I want to trim video files from my Panasonic DMC-TZ70, and my googling to try and find which software to use has only resulted in more questions than answers!:rolleyes:

When I checked with MediaInfo, I thought the format was AVCHD (although the container is MP4). When I checked the camera manual, I saw that there is the option of using either AVCHD or MP4. It is set to MP4.

So I am a bit confused as to if the videos are AVCHD or MP4?

I saw a lot about AVCHD being not so easy to work with. Does this not apply to my videos within a MP4 container?
If so does this mean that I can use MPEG Streamclip to trim the files? I did try it and it seemed to be OK.

Grabbing episode streams from This Old House

$

A couple years ago I asked for help grabbing episodes of America's Test Kitchen from their site. The ones available to everyone, of course. Everyone came through and was super helpful, so I am hoping they can do it again.

This time it's This Old House. I love that show and especially Ask This Old House. I have poked around the source code for https://www.thisoldhouse.com/watch/detroit-rebirth-detroit (which is the season that just ended and is available to everyone), and determined that the ID for the video is zE3idP3V. However, going back into the ATK thread and trying the Ad Block and Firefox method, I was unable to find the URL for the video.

So I ask for your help once again. How can I get the highest quality episodes to watch locally? The method for ATK was great, as it was basically a template and a couple of steps. Hopefully someone knows how to do it on this site as well. I would be eternally grateful.

DCR-TRV520 Digital8 playback issue with Hi8 tapes

$

Hi,

I just bought a nice DCR-TRV520 to use in digitizing some old Hi8 tapes. I'm not *too* naive, and the research I did online indicated that this model was fine to play back analog tape. Though I've dug through the menu and adjusted every playback setting (PB Mode and A/V-->DV OUT), I can't get anything but a blue screen on any tape I've tried.

Anyone know of a magic trick? Otherwise, I think I'm going to try to return the camera.

Thanks!

Video splitting?

Hi All - My first post on this site:)

I have a 10 second clip which I dropped into VideoPad (free version).

I want to split it into single frames. Is there a way to automate this process rather than manually hitting a 4 button sequence x 170 times?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Grabbing Streams from specific site. (See Post)

i'm trying to grab a few videos from https://www.charlierose.com and boy i'm having a time.

ffmpeg isn't doing it with the URL - https://pfm1hycdn01-a.akamaihd.net/7Z2/Q/1HY7Z2Q_103_xp.f4v

I've tried using curl to grab the video as well using

curl 'https://pfm1hycdn01-a.akamaihd.net/7Z2/Q/1HY7Z2Q_103_xp.f4v' -H 'Referer: https://charlierose.com/video/player/15731?autoplay=true' -H 'Origin: https://charlierose.com' -H 'Accept-Encoding: identity;q=1, *;q=0' -H 'User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_11_6) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/60.0.3112.101 Safari/537.36' -H 'Range: bytes=11632640-' --compressed > 1HY7Z2Q_103_xp.f4v

but what I get back is a file that nothing can seem to open.

Anyone have any thoughts here? I'm about to go and screencap the whole thing but would rather find a way to grab the stream. Feel like I'm missing something simple but can't figure it out.

Cheers and Thanks

I have a Walmart security video dvd. I do know they have a special codec MNM4 and that they have a evidence reviewer to watch this......but, I would like to burn this dvd onto another one without all the security, special codec etc. Is that possible? I just want to make it a regular "watchable" dvd.
