Error running 3DSubtitler in Windows 7 or Windows 8

I get an error when I try to use 3DSubtitler to convert from srt.

The message I get is "Invalid srt file, error in on line 1359"

It doesn't matter what srt file I load, the message is always the same.

Same thing happens with Windows 8.1. I don't not have Windows 10, but I guess it might be the same.

It does work fine in Windows XP though.

Of course I did try changing compatibility, in properties, bit it didn't work either.

Any options you may suggest to work this out?

Does lower native res monitor mean screen cap lower quality?

I'm using Flashback Express recorder. I used to have a full HD monitor but am now having to use an older one at 1440 x 900 max resolution. Am I right in assuming my screen caps are now also at lower resolution?

Which Format is Better or the Same (MPG vs AVI) when Burned Back to MPEG-2

Hello everyone. Just curious I downloaded a few movies /tv shows and they are in mpg format and some in avi format. I would assume that they are DVD rips files converted into these two different formats. If I want to burn them back to DVD format MPEG-2 which file format contains the best quality when played on a DVD player ? Or would the MPEG-2 quality come out the same ?

Hope the above is clear.

Thanks

White Horizontal Lines on Video - Hi8 from Sony TR716

I am looking to troubleshoot the playback quality of hi8 family home videos for copying to DVD. I believe the problem could be with the camcorder, a 1999 Sony TR716, since random thin horizontal white lines appear in the camcorder viewer during playback when it is not hooked to anything else (as well as on the TV screen when it is hooked up to a DVD player). Furthermore, the most recently recorded videos appear to be more compromised (they have more of the random horizontal white lines) than the earliest videos. However, the very first video that was recorded is having issues.

The only thing I have tried so far was playing a dry cleaning tape for a couple 10-second periods though this did not seem to help. I don’t currently have access to another hi8 video player to determine whether the compromise is due to the camcorder or the tapes (or a combination of the two). I would like to know which is the problem and a good way to eventually end up with DVD footage that is not compromised by the horizontal white lines.

The image below contains several of the thin horizontal lines. They are not so salient in a still shot but are very distracting on video.

MP4 with MPEG audio - script problem

Hi. I want to make a vid with a small scene repeated a few times. With an mp4/AAC, this is what I use:
LoadPlugin("E:\MeGUI\tools\lsmash\LSMASHSource.dll")
a=LSMASHVideoSource("E:\vid.mp4")
b=LSMASHAudioSource("E:\vid.mp4")
audiodub(a,b)
Spline64Resize(640,360)
x=trim(6394,6813)
last++x++x

Unfortunately, I've a vid here with 'MPEG Audio (Version 1) (Layer 3)' and the above doesn't work. My googling hasn't helped so I'm hoping someone can tell me what I need to do with this script. Thank you.

BD Data Disc File Compatibility

I'm wondering if anyone has experience with playing BD data discs on a BD player. In particular, which combination of container file, video codec and audio codec were used.

Currently my files are in .mp4 containers. I'm pretty much set on using H.264/AVC for the video codec as this gives good compression and quality. The audio on my files originate in AC3 (dolby digital).

I've looked at the specs of a few newer BD players and they seem to be inconsistent as to what combination of container/codecs they support.

For example the Sony BDP-S1700 lists the H.264/AVC codec. Among others it accepts the MP4 and MKV containers. But it only lists the AAC codec for MP4. For MKV it lists AC3, DTS, LPCM, MPEG and AAC. So, it would seem that my current MP4 files wouldn't be playable because the audio is AC3. I would either have to remux to MKV or transcode the audio to AAC. Seems overly fussy to me and I wonder if this is really true.

The Samsung BD-J5100 also only lists the AAC codec for MP4. For MKV it lists MP3, AC3 and DTS. Again, either remux to MKV or transcode the audio.

The LG BP255 seems to be more forgiving or the specs are vague. It would appear that it accepts any of it's video and audio codecs to be in any of it's containers. The Panasonic DMP-BD93 seems similar.

First I'd like to know whether the newer BD players actually play plain DB data discs (just a BD disc with container files burned and finalized). And then I'd like to find out which container / codec combinations work. I've only seen random mentions of this and the manufacturers specs aren't very detailed in this area.

Trying to repair an avi that wont play

I have a little camera i use on the front of my bike. First day I have used it and I've had an accident! Typical, that file doesnt play.
The original file and is 326MB in size.

Steps ive tried
1.Tried opening in VLC, nothing, doesnt even give a 'Broken or missing index' error.

2.Tried DivFix++ it shows this:
Index frames detected.
Error detected at byte: 2227224
Skipped 8 bytes.

New Stream Size : 55860
Total Error Count : 72
Total Frame Count : 97
Video Data Frames : 70
Audio Data Frames : 27

And gives me a 60kb file that has no video when played in VLC

3. Tried RemoRepair, it gives a 4.24 minute file which is audio only. It also give a BMP file which is a still of the video.

4. Repair Video Master says 'Repairing Video Index (aggressive mode)' and give a 10kb file with no video

5. Bandifix gives a 'File is not corrupted error'

6. Tried playing in Potplayer it gives
'Unable to grt video/audio':
ync Reader::Output

==========================
Unable to get video/audio data.

+ cbFormat: 0

7. Digital Video Repair gives 3 second 302mb file which doesnt play in VLC, although kind of does in KMplayer

8. Tried playing original file in KMplayer, it opens and starts playing the audio, but you cant scan through it. You can hear the accident right at the end :)
Playing the video generated in step 7 give a 5 second file, it shows a still picture (a different one to step3) and some audio.

9. Avidemux says it cannot open file.

10. Tried ffmpeg. Ran command prompt, went to where ffmpeg was and ran ffmpeg -i "f.avi" -c:v copy -c:a copy "good.avi", but got ffmpeg is not a recognised program. I checked but there is no ffmpeg.exe.

11. Tried Any Video Converter. Attempted to transcode avi into avi, but it didnt work.

So yo can see I've tried a few options! Theres definitely some audio there, possibly some video, as I have seen still images. Does anyone have any further things I can try?

Split video into segments, now how to save as separate files? VSDC

Hi,
New to the forum and video editing, so please forgive me if this is painfully obvious, lol. My son and I had a gig this weekend and my wife videoed it on my phone but it saved it as one large, 1 hour long file. I'd like to break it down to each song as it's own file. I downloaded VSDC and have converted the .avi file to .mpg and have split the file down to the separate songs but cannot for the life of me figure out how to save the parts as individual files.

I thought it would be as easy as right-clicking and saving as, but I was wrong. Any help anybody could send this way would be greatly appreciated.

Combining Fullscreen and Letterboxed Footage

$

I'm making a composite uncut DVD of a movie using two different sources: one is letterboxed, the other is fullscreen.

Since the majority of footage is letterboxed, I've converted the fullscreen video to match it. This is my first time converting to letterbox so I'm not sure if this is the best way to do this:

AVISource("D:\Stone Age\fullscreen.avi")
Crop(0,16, -12, -6) # Cropped VHS overscan and black borders
Spline36Resize(700,352) # Resized to match Letterbox.avi
AddBorders(20, 60, 0, 68) # NTSC

Looking forward to your suggestions.

Frame drops & a-sync issues from MiniDV to HD60s

I am new to this so please bear with me. I am transferring precious HD 1080i interviews with my belated grandparents from MiniDV (using an HDR-HC7) to MP4 using my Elgato HD60S and everything looks fine in preview but when the file is completed two things happen:

1) The frame rate is a pathetic 15 frames/sec!
2) Over the course of the 45 - 60 min the audio gradually goes out of sync.

I have a very robust computer and I got the newest Elgato to try to quell any concerns but this result is no good. Does anyone know what I might be missing here? Could the HDMI cable that came with the HD60S be causing the issue (I expect it is low quality)

Thanks so much in advance.

2016 Value Electronics HDTV Shootout - June 22-23, 2016

YES! Next week you too can sit and watch a roomful of people sitting and watching HDTVs! :D

Seriously though, for those who aren't familar with what this is, retailer Value Electronics sponsors a comparison of the best HDTVs currently available in 2016. Industry professionals and laypersons view and vote on which (generally no price restriction) HDTV is best in multiple pciture quality categories. Even if you're not looking to purchase any of these high end HDTVs, there's lots of interesting presentations during the event and even more discussion, particularly at www.avsforum.com

The prelimnary line-up (subject to change, even at the last minute) is:

Sony XBR-75X940D
•Samsung UN78KS9800
•LG 75UH9500
•LG OLED65G6P OLED TV
•Vizio 65” R series
•Hisense 65" H10

Note that these are generally top of the line models, but often a step-down model is shown to have a high percentage of the picture quality at a much lower price.

Corrupt MP4 Video

I was recording a video using my Lumia 520. Unfortunately it went off because of battery during recording.

When I finally retrieved the video from the phone it was neither playing with any player on the PC nor on the phone.

I checked the properties of the video under the details tab and there was no information at all. Not even the duration, bit-rate etc is there. The MP4 file is just above 500mb and was supposed to carry a very important video.

Is there a way to recover this video?

Hi!
I'm trying to convert AVI to FLV, ang get the best quality/lower file-size Avanti settings...

In particular, i need 2 templates:

1) frame-size = original

2) smaller frame-size (i.e. width=400) and very light file-size... but still watchable ;)

Which are your preferred settings?
Maybe someone could POST/LINK his templates?

TY guys.

FFMPEG Batch process MP3s, cutting last second WITHOUT re-encoding them

Hi :). I have about 30 mp3s which have an error at the last second. I'm trying to remove that last 1 second without re-encoding them (because that means that I'll lose sound clarity). They've ALREADY lost some of the clarity because they're recorded from another mp3 source.

I'd like to do this with a free-ware tool, such as FFMPEG.

Can you help me with a FFMPEG command that could do this, or at least tell me if it's possible?

How is this video made? / With what program or app?

Hello Videohelp Forum,
*
*** I really want this to be my top video program, since it has so many good downloading, and editing features etc. I am wondering if the video downloader is still being updated?
After checking thru Forums and FAQs, emailed support, but no reply yet, Tencoder Online video converter's Youtube downloader just does not work. Even after selecting to update Tencoder video downloader, Video downloading same old stalling & freezing still at 50% of download process,(Freezes same whether for several mins or hours, does not complete any video download) as all previously tries from a year ago, with Tencoder, was hoping badly needed downloader improvements or updates would have fixed these same old problems, but still same downloader issues. *
I am trying to use on my Windows 7 64Bit 6GB RAM PC. Any ideas why the downloader just will not work properly, addtl info below.

1ST and 2nd Download Test changed settings to 1080HD-MP4-MENCODER-H.264-CBR-SINGLE PASS-30FPS-5.1 SURR-256KB (Still Freezing and hangs)
3rd Test Switched from mencoder to FFMPEG still same problems
**Also tried testing downloader for online videos from all of these sites supposedly supported by Tencoder, but none of these Site URLs will even load in Tencoder like: MTV, dailymotion, Vevo, BET etc
**Please see attached Tencoder log did from today.
**Mainly want to use this program as my top online video downloader and Editor.*

Thanks again for all your time and help!
