VHS->Digital on MAC

Trying to be succinct

I need to transfer about 150 VHS tapes to the digital world. I might not ever burn them to a disk rather store them and play them from a HDD via WD TV.
Assuming I have a high end JVC deck, from the research I have done I was planning on going
VHS>a Full TBC Unit->Proc AMP-> Computer

Then I was told I should purchase some type of software to remaster the video

Then I was told I should just do:
VHS->to Capture Card>Computer and the Capture Card would allow me to remaster the video.

OK, What should I do? What is a good quality but good value capture card for a Mac?
DO I need a TBC?
DO I need a Proc AMP?

Help ID'ing tripods?

I'm John. New here, obviously, and looking for some help. Trying to scrape together gear for the very primitive stuff I shoot.

I've bought a few items from a guy on eBay who is liquidating a small TV station's gear, and he has a few tripods he's unable to ID that he says he will sell to me offline (scam alert, I know -- but this is a local place, so I know it's legit). I'm interested primarily in the larger tripods.

I know that JVC adapter is worth a fair few quid, but I'm not familiar with these heavier duty models, so any help you can lend identifying these would be appreciated.

The smaller tripods he didn't ID, either, so if you recognize them also, please let me know!

Which is better: 60i deinterlaced or 30p?

I have seen some people mention that they shoot primarily in 50i then de-interlace to 25p in ProRes 422. Now, de-interlacing HD video is a bear. But I wasn wondering if my results would be better? Does anyone have any experience with a similar workflow?

Hi there, I'm tryin' to download a video from rai website. Usually I use pasty.link website, but this videos seems to be protected in some other way.

I've tried to download them using ffmpeg, urlsnooper, rtmpdump...but I really can't find a way. If you go to pasty.link website, from that link it generates a lot of other links...maybe they could be useful, but I don't know...I'm goin' mad

does Video container select make a actual file

I am using video container selector to convert from .mp4 to .mkv. Iwas wondering if the resulting .mkv file was an actual .mkv or a hybrid .mp4.mkv ? Because i can the resultant file from windows 10 tv/movies app! What am i doing wrong in order to get a true .mkv file? Jtm:p

Too much buffering

I just upgraded to the latest version of VSO Media player and I now have CONSTANT breaks for buffering. The new version is 1.5.5.513. How can I correct this. It was NOT a problem with the old player. I'm referring to .mp4 files that I've downloaded from YouTube and played flawlessly with the older player. BTW, where can I get older versions if I need to go back? I think it was 1.2 something

Help with adding same text properties to multiple clips (Sony Vegas)

Hello,

So I'm trying to change the text colour of multiple clips at the same time. I've tried pasting attributes, although obviously that only pastes keyframe combinations and video FX.

Here's the example, I want to get multiple clips to have a blue outline around the text without individually editing them. Any ideas?

Multi split screen with Avisynth...

I know you can stack 2 video clips vertically - or horizontally - with an Avisynth script, but would it be possible to add more screens, to end up with something like this ?...

FFmpeg error message when converting MKV to MP4

When using the command line:

ffmpeg -i input.mkv -vcodec copy -acodec copy output.mp4

I receive the following message:

'Using AVStream.codec to pass codec parameters to muxers is deprecated, use ASTream.codecpar instead'

The resulting file seems ok when I play it but was just wondering if anyone knows what this message means?

how to upscale the video resolution

Hello,

I have a video in 352x288. Through AVStoDVD I have changed it in PAL from the original video 352x288.
I have made an attempt in order to upscale the resolution: through Avidemux I resized it to 704x576; then I have used AVStoDVD.
I am not completely sure, but it seems to me that the best resolution I can see on TV about that video is the original change in PAL from 352x288, instead of the DVD coming from 704x576. This difference if exists is really slight.
The resolution on TV is not good either for the DVD coming from 352x288 and for the one coming from 704x576. How could upscale the resolution at the best size I could for tV, by using AVStoDVD? What steps (what menu and buttons to press) in order to upscale?

Increasing compatibility of authored Blu-ray discs?

I author custom Blu-ray discs that I sell online. I use Adobe Encore CS6 mostly.

The problem I'm having is that some people have trouble playing their discs on some Blu-ray players. Most players play my discs fine, but far more than I'd like report problems playing the discs. Older PS3s seem to have more problems but other players tend to not play my discs very well.

I just have a PS4 which has played all my discs fine, so I can't really test them all out on different players.

Is there any way to increase the compatibility of my authored Blu-rays? I don't know if there are settings or methods of burning my discs that will increase compatibility or reduce the incidents of problems that my customers sometimes report?

Any help would be really appreciated.

tsMuxer : Bluray Folder from Main Movie MKV

Apologies if there is already a posting on this, was unsuccessful in finding it if it exists...

So, I have a video library of main movie MKVs only and wanted to back up the files to playable Bluray Discs and compress my digital files.

Ideally my backup discs would be able to play in a standard bluray player. Using tsMuxer I can create an M2TS output file, but I was unable to figure out how to maintain the custom chapters. I've tried to create a Bluray Folder or AVCHD folder from the MKV but get an error every time. Is there something I'm missing? Can I not input an MKV file and it generate the BDMV and Certificate folders?

Underwater effect in Vegas? how to do it?

I would like to create an underwater effect in Sony Vegas. Im not talking about muffling audio, im talking visual, like the image moving smoothly in ripples or something, like in the game Quake 3 Arena, if you go underwater the camera does this. I don't know how to explain it. PLease help
