Hi,
someone have info about viewing this stream into VLC?
I can download the playlist but only after opening the main webpage into browser or I get "403 forbidden" error; same error with ffmpeg, maybe some kind of autentication?

Code:

ffmpeg -i http://skyanywhere-i.akamaihd.net/hls/live/229116/mtv8sdlive/stream1/streamPlaylist.m3u8 -c copy output1.mkv

[http @ 0x55c81d5eb3a0] HTTP error 403 Forbidden
http://skyanywhere-i.akamaihd.net/hls/live/229116/mtv8sdlive/stream1/streamPlaylist.m3u8: Server returned 403 Forbidden (access denied)

After downloading playlist I can open it with VLC but only for some seconds before restarting in loop.

I would like to play this channel without using browser, someone can help me? Any help, link or explaination to find a solution is very appreciated.

More info: the stream on the website is viewable only from Italy, a proxy or an easy VPN extension like Windscribe from Hong Kong can work too.

Figuring out m3u8 stream

Hi guys,

I'm very new to this whole thing so please bear with me. I found a stream for the ESPN Deportes channel online and tried to get the m3u8 stream with no luck. The link I found the stream at is (I recommend having and ad blocker cuz this site has like 3 pop ups):

http://www.vipboxtv.me/nfl/128421/1/espn-deportes-stream.html

Now both Wireshark and the Video DownloadHelper extension from Firefox tell me that the m3u8 link for the stream with the highest bitrate is http://ak-hls-brs-espndep.espn.go.com/hls/live/218618/p/espndep-p-4500/espndep-p-4500.m3u8

I tried playing that stream in VLC and at https://www.hlsplayer.net/ but so far haven't had any luck. Can you guys direct me at what I'm missing please?

MKV2MP4 not including subs when converted

I don't have that much knowledge of converting/encoding videos. I have a couple of mkv files which I would like to convert to mp4.

Upon searching, I found that https://www.videohelp.com/software/MkvToMp4 works best without any quality loss. But the problem is that when I converted it to MP4, It didn't included the subtitles along with it so MP4 was pretty much raw.
Is it some settings about subtitles that I will have to change so It includes subs instead of raw conversion? Here's the settings of subtitles (Also, what's "codepage for non-unicode"? It's a bunch of letters+numbers but Idk what It's about or which one is best)

I tried to convert into both (MP4 & M4a) but both didn't had any subtitles.

If anyone can tell me best settings for high quality mkvtomp4 (with subs & without subs) that will be awesome. Or If there is a better way than this software?

I captured vhs tape to mpeg2 (see screenshot 1). I want to use GUI for DVDAuthor to make DVD. I used TMPGEnc to separate video and audio. I have audio file now as mp2 (see screenshot 2).
What free software can I use to convert the mp2 audio to ac3 that will go directly into GUI for DVDAuthor?

From VCR to DVD - step by step help please

A few years ago I bought a Compro T300 Analog/Digital TV card, basically to record programs I wanted to watch later. Recently I decided to convert some VCR tapes two of my sisters sent me, burn them to disks so they can be watched on any ordinary DVD player complete with chapter menus and return them to my sisters.

I plugged a Panasonic NV-HD620HD VCR into the card which is installed in a ten year old AMD Athlon mobo running on MS XP Pro via the composite plug and recorded away. Got both audio and video. So far, so good.

The format of the resulting file:

I don't know what much of this means. First question: Would it be better to record in MPEG-4 format? According to the following list MPEG-4 is one of a boatload of other codecs available on my computer, and according to the brief Compro PDF manual it should show up among the options, but it does not. I wonder if I have missed a step during the installation of either the codecs or the TV card. If so, I don't know how to discover which one.

Broken Codecs
-------------

 [No codecs were found broken.]

Another question concerns the lines of noise at the bottom, and from this point on I find myself in unknown territory. I have read that I could use some program to crop the picture around all four edges, then resize, but I really prefer to mask the lines at the bottom only in black. Can I do that in some program that has a graphical user interface? I've kind of gone off command line operations when Windows 3.1 became available.

Two short notes:

1: Is there a way to minimise the code boxes?
2: I cannot afford to buy software. If it is not freeware it is out of my reach.

Take a look at this short video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QcTmFkEIV0s

It is the Sun, captured with a telescope on a tracking mount. It was originally taken as one frame every 1 second over 2.5 hours (nearly 10k frames total) and then sped up to 60 fps - hence the approx 2.5 minutes duration of the video.

The mount was setup during the day. Because of that, polar alignment could not be done accurately (no stars were visible). An approximate alignment was done - as a result, the image is slowly drifting across the frame. Every 30 minutes in real time (30 seconds in this video), I had to make manual corrections. At that point, the image of the Sun jumps suddenly back to center. Then it starts drifting again. I have no idea how to keep the Sun centered for the whole duration of the video.

The telescope tracking software, in theory, could determine the approximate center of the bright disk, and issue corrections to the telescope if the disk center does not coincide with the frame center, and this way it would keep the Sun in the center. However, this technique would not work during an eclipse, because the shape of the disk would change a lot (and it would eventually disappear altogether). So, any software method that does the same (compute the center of the disk, etc) would not work either.

I am somewhat familiar with open source tools such as Avidemux, MeGUI, VirtualDub, etc. I also use Sony Vegas (the cheap version for amateurs, not the pro version). But regular camera shake removal plugins don't seem to work. Youtube's own camera deshaker doesn't work either.

I should add that the original video is roughly at 5k resolution. It's an APS-C sensor in 3:2 format, I've done a little cropping to make it 16:9, but the original MP4 is still more or less 5k. So any processing technique used to stabilize the image must be able to handle such resolutions.

The video comes out of the astronomy software in the SER format (like RAW, but video). I do an initial conversion, using PIPP, to AVI / FMP4; no processing at this step other than format conversion. From there, MeGUI and x264 generate a standard MP4 / AVC video; I also do cropping, white balance, etc in MeGUI (using Avisynth).

Any suggestions are welcome.

HEVC acceleration: DXVA copy-back vs. NVIDIA CUVID

Several years ago i would have chosen DXVA like i always did, but surely NVIDIA has improved it's playback quality when accelerating stuff releaving stress from CPU. What is the recommended stuff for HEVC support? What provides better picture quality?

Anyone noticed the difference, share their thoughts.

Upscaling to 60FPS with MeGUI/Avisynth trouble....

Okay, so... I know there's a lot to be said about the headaches of this process around the internet, but there's actually so much that I can't parse through it and what I've been able to try from it has utterly failed me... So as a last ditch attempt to solve this, here I sit asking for personalized help in the hopes that someone either has, or can help me find, the smoking gun that will fix this weirdness.

So, a while back I used this guide: http://www.spirton.com/convert-videos-to-60fps/ to start using to MeGUI to upscale various content to 60FPS. As someone who's on the go a lot but doesn't have a data plan, having pre-converted 60FPS videos is rather nice.

For a long time, it worked well, and all was good. But recently after installing an SSD(no other changes) and doing a Windows reset, I can't get it to work. So here's my specific problem...

I've never been able to get MeGUI to update as recommended in the guide, and with my recent troubles that's been no different. This problem I always fixed with a certain batch of files(found at https://sourceforge.net/projects/megui/), but this time it hasn't worked. I've looked up a few suggested fixes for the errors I get, but each one just lead to another error.

I can't recall all the errors I've gotten or the changes made to trigger them, so for now I've cleaned out MeGUI and restarted the process down to when the first error occurs. Seems the best point to start at.

I have the script entered into the system, adjusted for my computer(Cores set to 6 and GPU set to True), as it was before, but when I load the file I wish to upscale, and click Save, I get"

"The File D:\Video\Upscales\filename.AVS Cannot be opened.
Please make sure that it is a valid Avisynth script and that Avisynth is properly installed
Error message for your reference: Can't read the video stream."

This would seem to point to an issue with the codecs installed on my system, but I can find no issue to explain it. If I tell it to try and queue the job anyway, I get another error:

"Your Avisynth clip has the following problem
Error in Avisynth script:
ScriptError: There is no function named 'SetMTMode.'
(D:\Video\Upscales\filename.avs, line 3)
Continue anyway?"

Saying yes queues the file, but unsurprisingly it errors out(and does not give a popup for WHAT error) when you try to start it.

So what should I do first?

Thank you in advance for any and all help provided.

Alpha Chanel ? transparency in video

Hello I have a question that bothers me.
I work a lot in the development of APP

Sometimes I need to make video editing in some project.
With after effect, it's easy to use an Apple codec (.Mov) to get Alpha Chanel on render video.

It allows me to use an ALPHA layer for background.
Very useful in some context of FX.
But the issue is that!
the .mov are rarely compatible with some engine and if yes, is very low compression.!

My big question, is there any other container or codec that can allow the Alpha layer?
I would like to be able to use a video X.264 or H.265 or other, with a transparent background,
do you have any suggestion or an answer to bring me?

Thank you very much for your answers.:)

PS: I would like to try integrate a video with transparent background in an HTML project that uses Pixi.js
also Node.JS

Does anyone know a software which is as good as jdownloader but is java and add free ?
That would be amazing.
Thanks in advance for your help and a great weekend.
PS.: please don't suggest Mozilla firefox plugins, I already tested those and they are utter s**it

D-8 to Computer

Hello guys. I joined this site primarily because I needed some authoritative opinions.

About three weeks ago, yours truly accidentally overwrote GBs of personal, precious video files on his two backup drives. Some of these are gone forever, some may be recoverable, some are recoverable. It is the latter category I am writing about.

I have maybe a few dozen D-8 cassettes going back about 15 years. They've been kept in a relatively cool, dark spot. I have memories on these I cannot stand to be without. I know there has to be a way to capture these onto my computer. I put my system specs into my profile, so I am assuming they're visible. If not, I'll happily provide them.

Thanks so much folks from a new guy in these forums.

Need understanding of modules, anamorphic, pixel aspect ratio

Lately I have been taking unimportant 1080p videos and re-encoding them down to 720p's x264s at around 2500 Kbps in Handbrake.

When doing the resize, I notice that the videos tend to start with a PAR of 1x1. Thinking that this may be important, I will crop a couple of pixels from top and bottom to get it back to a PAR of 1x1. These are usually letterboxed videos. I also notice that I can also choose between mod 2, 4, 8 or 16 and this affects the width and height. Handbrake says to just use 2 but I think I've heard that having mod 8 or even mod 16 is important is important for encoding efficiency or something. I also notice that the dimension of the display size and source may be different even when not resizing and that VLC also shows 2 sizes for the videos (resolution and display resolution).

Should I worry too much about all this stuff or just leave it at modules 2 and not worry about getting a PAR at 1x1? Is there a simple guide that explains this stuff? I've read some stuff on the web but some just talk about modules and some just talk about pixel aspect ratio so it's all a bit confusing for a newbie.

Streamclip MPEG creates artifacts (blue and multicoloured lines)

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie here! I wanted to post on this forum as I can see a variety of activity (questions, answers) about Streamclip MPEG. Thanks in advance for your help.

Anyway, I'm having issues with clips that I've converting using Streamclip MPEG. The originals don't have these artifacts, but once converted, they appear. Please see sample images below:

The file is output as .mov from Streamclip MPEG using the AVID DNxHD codec. Original footage in this case has been captured using a Nikon D3300 (25 fps), but the same artifacts appear using Geforce Experience's Shadowplay to capture game footage from screen (variables FPS, but targetted at 60).

My graphics card is a GTX-1070, and my processor is an Intel i7-6700HQ. My settings are in the photo above.

Am I being silly here? I assume it's a simple case of changing a setting here or there, but being a novice, I'm not sure where to start.

Thanks SO much for your help.

Aegisub: Whole line jumping

$

Hi together,

I created some subtitles with Aegisub and used a small effect to let the syllables grow to 120 % and shrink back to 100 %:

{\pos(640,670)}{\r\k$kdur\t($start,$end,\1c&H4053D C&)\t($start,$mid,\3c&H0E154A&\4c&H0E154A&)\t($mid ,$end,\3c&H000000&\4c&H000000&)\t($start,!$start+$ dur*0.3!,\fscy120)\t(!$start+$dur*0.3!,$end,\fscy1 00)} ... Edit: The post shows a space here: \fscy1 00. But it's actually not there.

However, not only the highlighted syllable is growing and shrinking, but the whole line is always jumping in time with the growth of the syllables. You can see this in one of my videos right here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hkaw4AeHTuQ

Since I'm only using \fscy120 and \fscy100, I'm not sure how to remove the jumping. =( Do you have any idea how to solve this problem? Any idea appreciated!

Kind regards,
Kero
